How to Use NFC on Android?

Published

on

Mobile phones have been so much revolutionized that we can share files within a matter of a few seconds. Near Field Communications aka NFC is a technology that helps you do the same thing.

Not just file sharing, it can read NFC tags and return appropriate responses as well. Here, I will help you use NFC on Android.

So, without further ado, let’s dive into the core of this blog post.

How to Use NFC on Android?

Before you proceed into the usage of NFC, you should know what it exactly is.

What is NFC on My Phone?

The name says it all. Near Field Technology makes communication between two devices easier when both of them stay in the closer proximity of each other. The distance should be less than 10 centimeters.

NFC became popular when Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich had come out. Google has included a faster file sharing facility called Android Beam with it.

The data transfer occurs in the form of radio waves. Along with the transfer, you can read or write NFC tags as well.

I hope you know what is NFC on the phone now.

Does Your Phone have NFC?

How to find out whether NFC is available on your phone or not?

You can check out the mobile phone packaging first. Most of the smartphones with NFC has a label on the package. In case you don’t see any, remove the back cover and have a look at the battery. Samsung phones come with an NFC label on the battery.

What if you can’t see even a single NFC label at all?

Well! Navigate to Settings>> More. There you go! If your phone supports NFC, you can see it there.

Now that you know what NFC on Android is and how to check the availability, let’s move on to the core of this post.

How to Use NFC?

First, you have to enable NFC on both the devices taking part in the communication. Follow Settings>> More>> NFC. There it is!

Most of the time, Android Beam gets activated right when you turn NFC on. In case it doesn’t happen, you have to manually do it.

When you are about to share data between two devices via NFC, you have to check the following things.

  • NFC on both devices should be turned on
  • Don’t separate your devices during the beaming process
  • The devices should not be locked or in sleeping mode

How to Beam Content Using NFC on Android?

Let’s say you want to share something with your friend, who has an Android device with NFC facility.

So, how can you share the content?

Just follow the steps given below.

Step 1: The very first step is opening the content on the sending device (be it Maps, Photos, web pages, or contact info).

Step 2: Once you open the content, make sure NFC is turned on. As I already mentioned, you can do it by following Settings>> More>> NFC.

Step 3: Now you have to pick up the secondary device; the one you want to send the content to. Turn NFC on it too.

Step 4: When you turn NFC on both the devices, place their backs against each other. (The center of NFC is on the back).

Step 5: You will see that the sender’s phone screen shrinks and displays Touch to Beam on top. The shrunk screen proclaims the content is ready to share over NFC.

You have to touch the sender’s phone to start beaming. Once the process starts, you will hear a sound.

There you go! When the beaming finishes, you will hear a sound and get a notification as well. On some devices, the shared content gets opened as soon as the transfer process completes.

Yeah, you can share multiple items via NFC. Let’s check out what they are.

Sharing Apps

You can share applications with another device over NFC. Unlike common sharing methods, you won’t get the APK file of the application on the receiving end. What you get is the link to its Play Store page.

The receiver has to manually install the app from the Store.

Sharing YouTube Videos

Similar to apps, you get a link, on tapping which the YouTube app starts and navigates you to the video.

Sharing Photos

In this case, the receiver gets the complete file. You can open the image with any viewing application. Still, not every phone supports photo sharing over NFC.

Sharing Contacts

Once you get contact via NFC, the device will ask you to choose a Google account if you have many sets upon it. In case you have only one on your phone, you won’t have to do anything.

Sharing Web Pages

When you open a web page and beam the same, the phone on the receiving end gets the URL, not the content that can be accessed offline.

Making Mobile Payments

Yeah, you can make payments via NFC. No need to carry cards!

There are many apps like Google Wallet, PayPal, SquareWallet that help you make payments using NFC.

Using NFC Tags

You can automatically configure some settings of your phone or tablet using NFC tags. Let’s say you have an NFC tag in your office that keeps mobile phone silent. Whenever your phone gets to its proximity, it will automatically switch your phone to silent mode.

An NFC enabled smartphone can read and write NFC tags. In order to feed data to a tag, you need a specialized app like Trigger.

It can do a lot of things; making a phone call, setting events, alarms, display settings, etc.

Wrapping Up

I hope you know how to use NFC on Android now, don’t you?

Although the technology isn’t so common, we can expect it to be in the near future. In case you have any doubts regarding this, feel free to ask in the comment section down below.

I appreciate it if you share this on social media.

Step #2: Now, once you have created an account in Unfollowgram then checking that who unfollowed you on Instagram is quite simple. All what you have to do is to navigate for the “Who Unfollowed Me” option from the navigation bar. At the first it will not display any results because you have just created your account and your followers list is just added to the database.

You should consider checking this option quite often for seeing who unfollowed you on Instagram.

Alternatively, you can also try many other services provided by the Unfollowgram such as you can check “Who doesn’t follow you back”, “Who I don’t follow back”, your “Followers” and the “Following list”.

How to Turn Off Call Forwarding

Published

on

Call forwarding or call diverting is a telephony feature, which redirects a telephone call to another destination. This telephony feature is mainly used by most of the business concerns to maintain their calls with clients.

Call forwarding enhances communication with clients and customers. Most often call forwarding is proved to be a vital part of big firms and businesses. Similarly, it can also be used in our daily life as well. For example, if you have shut your phone for some reason then definitely there are chances you can miss your important calls.

In that case, what would you do? You obviously can not inform all your friends and colleagues individually to not call on your previous number but on the new one.

So, in such situations call forwarding can be the best helper for you. You can set your new number on your phone diverting feature. So that whenever anyone will call you on your previous number, their call would be forwarded to your new number.

How-to-turn-off-call-forwarding

Most often call forwarding is way too important as I said above but not all the time. As we all know everything has some good sides and some bad sides as well. Similarly, forwarding calls can also be a headache for people sometimes. Reasons might be many, one of the prime reasons can be the inundated calls.

For example, if your business owner has set up your phone number where the forwarded calls are intended to receive can make you very annoyed indeed. Though it might not be the point of concern for many people, but for some, it can be a matter of worry!

So in that case, you might wonder for such guides like how to turn off call forwarding, how to stop call forwarding or how to unforward calls.

How to Turn Off Call Forwarding

Turning off call forwarding is a quite easy procedure. However, call forwarding feature is most often very useful, but if you really want to learn how to cancel call forwarding, then follow the below guide.

  • Dial *73 on your phone.
  • You will hear a message that the feature is successfully activated.
  • That is all. Your call forwarding feature would be disabled from the phone.

This is the most common method that can be used almost all the phones including smartphones. But sometimes due to the network failure or in any cases, if you are unable to stop call forwarding by the above method then you can do that manually on your Smartphone.

Below, I have covered some of the devices where I have shared the procedure for stopping forwarded calls.

Turn Off Call Forwarding in iPhone

Call forwarding is basically of three types,  Always forward, forward when busy, Forward when unanswered and last forward when unreachable. The procedure to stop forwarding is all the same in all the types. Let’s head to the procedure given below.

Step 1: To disable call forwarding in iPhone firstly go to Settings page by tapping on the setting icon from the home screen.

Step 2: Scroll down to the bottom to find the option, Phone. Once you get it tap on it.

Step 3: Now under Phone option, you will see various options including Call Forwarding.

Step 4: Now since you are here to learn how to stop call forwarding, you definitely want to make it disabled. So simply toggle the button Off to make it disable.

That is it!! Call forwarding has stopped from your device.

Now whenever you feel the need of enabling it, you can do that easily. Simply follow the above procedure to reach at the same option then click on the call forwarding and toggle the option ON.

While turning ON, you will see an option Forwarding to. Under this option, you can put any number you want your forwarded calls to.

Turn Off Call Forwarding in Android

The procedure to enable/disable call forwarding on Android is almost similar to the method I described above with just a slight difference. Let’s see how to cancel call forwarding on Android devices.

Step 1: First of all go to the Menu button and then select Settings.

Step 2: Now on the setting page, scroll down to find the option, Phone or Call Setting (the name of the option might be different. It may vary from the device’s model to model).

Note: If you don’t find the option Phone or call setting on the settings page, then the option may be placed at the different places on your device. You may find the option under the phone icon on your device home screen.

To find the option call setting, go to Phone icon> Menu button> Call settings. Once you have found the option follow Step 3. If you are using a Dual SIM smartphone, then you may have to choose Call Profile. Just choose the Network on which you wanted to forward the call.

How-to-Turn-Off-Call-Forwarding

Step 3: Here you will see various phone options. All you need to do is select Call Forwarding from the list of options appearing on the screen.

How-to-Turn-Off-Call-Forwarding

Step 4: After tapping on the Call forwarding option, you will see multiple options related to call forwarding like always forward, forward when busy, Forward when unanswered and last forward when unreachable.

For all the options you can specify the different numbers once enabled. But as you don’t want to keep call forwarding enabled you can disable it by tapping over the disable option.

Enabling or disabling options are almost the same in almost all the devices with just minor differences. Once you are successful finding the option, disabling call forwarding is just a few steps procedure.

However, the first method I shared that is dialing a number works almost all the devices even on smartphones. So I would suggest you follow the first method instead following these long procedures.

So this was all about how to turn off call forwarding. We hope that you liked this post, And with that, I am wrapping up this article. If you enjoyed reading it and found it useful, don’t forget to share it on social media platforms.

How to Fix Android’s ‘Insufficient Storage Available’ Error Message?

Published

on

How-to-fix-Android's-insufficient-storage-available-error-message

Storage is an illusion, if you’ve got a device that gives you 32GBs of storage, take my word for it that you’d not get 32GBs in usable storage anyway.

The point being the devices promote themselves as having those GBs of storage, but it’s like promoting a 100-page book saying it’s 102 pages, including the covers. That’s because the devices run on Operating systems and there are other system files that need space, and that space is included in your total space.

So basically at the end of the day, you end up googling answers to questions like How to fix the error: There is insufficient space on this device. Not just Android, iPhone users are also facing these issues. So, if you have an iPhone, here is how to get more storage on iPhone.

Now there’s no way you can get to use the whole 32-64 of whatever GB of space your device claims to have, but there are solutions which will free up most of the space for you so that instead of losing 10% of the space, you’d be compromising only around 5%.

But before I can answer your question on How to fix Android’s ‘insufficient storage available’ error message, let’s start from the basics, why does this space-scarcity occur in the first place?

What Eats up Android Space?

1. Operating System:- This one is the prime space-eater. Well, you can’t exactly blame it because you need an operating system to run your device on. Also, you need to understand that it’s “unchangeable”. Meaning whatever space your OS is consuming, it can’t be “cut” or deducted.

2. Apps Cache/Junk Files:- Whenever you run an app, be it Messenger or just your gallery, it saves certain preferences and data in your apps cache.

I’m sure you might have noticed that the pictures in your gallery load slower the first time, but if your open your gallery the second time, the picture previews come up exceptionally fast.

That happens because the gallery stored the data the first time and hence it didn’t need to load it the second time. Now that data needs space to be stored right?

Although I think you’ve already figured out that the cache is actually beneficial for you and makes your cellphone experience much more “faster”.

3. Browser Cache: Browser cache is also just about the same thing as the app cache, just that it stores data about websites and your choices.

Meaning it speeds up your browsing experience if you visit a website regularly, it remembers if you like ads or not, and other personal details as such.

Again this is something that is actually “helpful” and not something that’s totally harming you or your device.

4. Updates:- They can be whole system updates or just third-party app updates. Most of the time a newer version is at least some megabytes heavier in size than the last version.

Now take that and calculate it for all the apps you have on your device, even if just 50% of them auto-update, I would say you’re looking at quite a bit of storage space.

Not to mention the “system updates”, which normally come in sizes over 200-300mbs. So bottom lime, updates need space too.

And these are just some of the most common “space-consuming” elements your device has, there are other technicalities too but they’re too complicated as far as boundaries of this article go.

How to Fix Android’s ‘Insufficient Storage Available’ Error Message:-

So we’re down to the part you’ve been waiting for. I’ll walk you through clearing (or disabling) the elements which cause the error, so here goes your solution to How to fix Insufficient Space on Device.

Method #1:- Use a Cleaner:-

Now it totally depends on your android version and OS. I’ve got a LeEco 2 Max which has an in-built cleaner. In case you don’t have one, you can just go to Playstore and download Turbo Cleaner (It’s one of the many available free cleaners you can go with.)

In my case, I just fire up the cleaner and it shows me my junk data.

How-to-fix-Android's-'insufficient-storage-available'-error-message

As you can see, I’ve over 1GB of junk files! That’s a lot of junk, so all I’ve to do is, tap on the cleanup button at the bottom of the screen.

How-to-fix-Android's-'insufficient-storage-available'-error-message

See? It’s all gone.

Now in case you’re using any other cleaner, the interface might be a bit different but it’ll be more or less similar, you just have to tap once on the “clean” button and it’ll do the job.

Method #2:- Manual Cleaning:-

In case you don’t have any cleaners, you can also clean the junk files manually. (Not as efficiently and thoroughly as the cleaners may be but you’ll free up considerable space.)

Go to your settings, and then click on Apps.

How-to-fix-Android's-'insufficient-storage-available'-error-message

And then slide left till you reach the “installed” apps screen.

How-to-fix-the-error-There-is-insufficient-space-on-this-device

Now just tap on the first app > click on Storage

How-to-Fix-InSufficient-Space-On-The-Device-Download-Error

And then tap on the “clear cache” button. (Remember that you can also “clear data”, but in some cases that would lead you to lose all the “progress”, so in short clearing “data” is fine with apps, but try not to tap that if you’re cleaning a game or something that has your progress saved”.)

How-to-Fix-InSufficient-Space-On-The-Device-Download-Error

As you can see I don’t have lots of data as I just cleaned my system. Well, that’s about it, you’ll have to manually tap on each app and repeat the process till all the apps have been cleaned.

(That’s the reason I prefer the cleaner apps! Much faster.)

So yeah mission accomplished, this should also answer your questions like How to Fix “InSufficient Space On The Device” Download Error in case you had them. Also see, how to check data usage on iPhone.

Final Words:-

So that was it, folks, that’s all I had on How to Fix Android’s ‘Insufficient Storage Available’ Error Message. I hope this solved your problems regarding android storage space? Along with storage data, internet data is also limited. If you want to reduce data usage on a Smartphone, here are 5 ways to reduce data usage on a Smartphone.

If it did, I’d appreciate your feedback in the comments section. If it didn’t, you can also leave your questions, problems, and doubts over there.

Also if you’ve got better and easier ways to accomplish this, you can use the comment box for that too.

Disclaimer:- I or Knowledgecage isn’t in any way affiliated to TurboCleaner or any other app used in this tutorial, you’re free to use any other app according to your own preference. They were used just for the sake of explaining the process and steps.

How to Get out of Safe Mode Android

Safe mode is the only way to get into a malware affected phone. When your OS becomes corrupted, it will not be easy for your phone to run the same. That’s where the safe mode comes into play.

In safe mode, you will get limited specifications with not a smooth Android experience. It will not even allow you to install apps and operate with them as well.

I have seen on several forums that people face problems with Android safe mode that they can’t get out of it. That’s why today I am here with this tutorial on how to turn off safe mode Android.

How to Get out of Safe Mode Android?

As I said earlier, not all of us know how to take off safe mode. So here in this post, you are going to know of the same. Plus, I will give you an overview of what safe mode means.

What does Safe Mode Mean?

Safe mode in Android is more of a troubleshooting method to resolve the problems with your phone, like unusual data usage or huge battery drain.

In safe mode, you will not be able to run any third-party apps. So, you can get to know whether the apps you downloaded is causing the issue or not.

Safe mode uses only minimal features of the Android. Whenever you find your device dead and not booting up normally, you can reboot safe mode to check what the cause of the issue is.

Moreover, you may have some new messages and notifications at the time the device starts behaving weirdly. You can read all of them making use of the safe mode.

Do you still have the question, ‘what is safe mode on my phone?’.

So it’s time to explore the core section that is how to take phone off safe mode.

How to Get Phone off Safe Mode?

So here we are, approaching the core of this post. Are you ready to find out how to get out of safe mode Android? Here you go!

Method 1: Do a Normal Reboot

Here you are going to reboot your phone normally. In most of the cases, this will help you get rid of safe mode on Android.

Follow the steps given below to turn off safe mode on Android.

Step 1: Take your phone and press the power button. (The button on the side of the phone you press for waking up your phone is the power button).

How-to-Get-out-of-Safe-Mode-Android

Step 2: Now, you will get a bunch of options like Power Off, Restart, Enable Flight Mode, etc. From those, you need to choose the second one.

Hopefully, this will help you disable the Android safe mode.

Proceed to the next step if you don’t find the above method useful.

Method 2: Power off Your Device

This process is similar to the first one. Here, we are going to power off the device instead of rebooting.

Step 1: Press the power button.

Step 2: From the upcoming options, choose Power Off.

Step 3: Allow the device to rest on that off mode for a while and then, turn your device back on.

Method 3: Pull out the Battery

If both of the above methods do not come to your rescue, you can try out this method. Unfortunately, this won’t help with your phone having a non-removable battery.

Step 1: Pick up your Android phone and remove the back case.

Step 2: Removing the back case will reveal some of the interior parts of your phone. Now, what we are going to do is pulling out the battery from there as you have a removable one.

How-to-Get-out-of-Safe-Mode-Android

Step 3: Do not do anything after removing the battery because it needs some time to discharge all the capacitors.

Step 4: After some time, turn on your device and there you are.

Method 4: Power Key and Volume Rocker

Most of the time, the chaos of not knowing how to get out of safe mode Android happens because you don’t know how you get in there. A majority of people reach safe mode by pressing the power button and one of the volume rockers.

We are going to use it to take off safe mode.

Step 1: Power off your device, by the way, I shared as method 2.

Step 2: Press the power button and one of the volume rockers for some time. And you will be out of safe mode when the phone completes booting up.

Note: – You may have to try with both the volume buttons individually if you find one not working.

Method 5: Factory Reset

If none of the above methods favors you, the factory reset may be going to help you out.

Follow the steps given below to get out of safe mode by factory resetting your phone.

Step 1: Go to your phone’s Settings. (Most of the phones have a Settings button on the notification panel nowadays).

Step 2: Scroll down to the bottom to find the option called Backup and Reset. Don’t hesitate to tap on the same.

Step 3: Select Factory data reset. In some other phones, it may be Delete all user data. (If you want to keep the data, don’t forget to take a backup).

Step 4: You will be shown a disclaimer. Read it and proceed to the process by tapping on Reset phone.

Step 5: It will take a while to finish the process. Select Reboot system now on the completion.

Step 6: Press the power button again to turn the device on.

The methods I shared here are all soft ones that will not give you a headache to do. Another method is there that includes wiping the cache of your entire device on the boot level. But I think, the method given above can rescue your phone.

Wrapping Up

Apart from the above methods, you can try uninstalling the newly installed apps to check whether they are the reasons that don’t allow you to boot your device up normally.
