How to Rotate Screen on Your Laptop or PC

Screen rotation can be one of the amazing things you can do with your computer. It can be used as a prank on your friend or neighbor as well as used to read documents, eBooks, and watch movies while laying down, which enables you to enjoy the movies or read documents with ease.

1. Right-click on the desktop and select “Screen Resolution” or “Display settings” – The type of option that you may get in the menu usually depends on which version of Windows you are using. For e.g. If you are using Windows 7, then you shall get “Screen resolution” as the concerned option.

#2. How to Rotate The Screen on your Laptop or PC – Method 2

We all know that our laptop or PC has a graphic card embedded in it that is responsible for anything that is displayed on the screen. Without these graphic cards, our laptops and PCs cannot satisfy our needs.

Although there are a vast number of graphics cards’ variety to choose from, an ideal graphic card is the one that can fulfill all our expectations. Certain Graphic card adapters support keyboard shortcuts, which makes it easier to switch between different modes.

These shortcuts usually work if you are using Intel Integrated Graphics Adapter. However if you are using Nvidia or AMD cards, these shortcuts may not usually work. The below mentioned are the primary methods that you can implement quickly to change your orientation modes.

  • Ctrl+Alt+↓ – Flip the screen upside down.
  • Ctrl+Alt+→ – Rotate the screen 90° to the right.
  • Ctrl+Alt+← – Rotate the screen 90° to the left.
  • Ctrl+Alt+↑ – Return the screen to the standard landscape orientation.

For Nvidia and AMD users:
Nvidia, AMD and Intel graphics adapters are usually installed in a control panel program through which you can make adapter-specific adjustments.
You can find these options in “Start menu”, which is found on the bottom left of your screen and navigate to “Control Panel” option – Now you have to look for “Rotation” and “Orientation” option.

In the AMD Control centre you can find the “Rotation” menu on the Desktop, right click the “Properties” section. For Intel users, you can find the “Rotation” selector in the”Display Settings” menu i.e.
Start >Control panel >Display >Display settings.

For AMD users [ screen rotation shortcuts ]:
If you are using AMD or ATI card these are the following options you can use to enable shortcut rotation.

1. Go to desktop, right click and select “Catalyst Control Centre”.

2. You then need to click on the “Preferences” option and then select “Hot Keys” – Select “display manager” – and you can set the key combinations you want to use as shortcuts.

3. How to Flip Screen on a Laptop or PC – method 3

1. Click start [ you will find it on the bottom left of your screen ] – Find the “Settings option” – then go to “control panel.”

2. Now, search for “Intel driver” the name can vary a little in different computers depending on the type of system you are using, for example: ‘Intel(R) GMA Driver For Mobile.’

3. Now you will enter –“Display devices” Subsequently, click on “Display Settings” tab.

4. You will find an option called “Enable rotation” you can enable it by clicking on the check box and press apply.

5. Now you can select your desired angle using the options on the screen; you will find : 0°, 90°,180°,270° .

6. You can also do this selection using the following keyboard shortcuts.

  • For normal screen –PressCTRL + ALT + the up arrow key.
  • To vertically rotate screen left to 90°-Press CTRL + ALT + left arrow key
  • To vertically rotate screen right 270° – press CTRL + ALT + right arrow key
  • To rotate screen upside down- press CTRL + ALT + down arrow key

Note: If you can’t see rotation options, you need to update drivers; you can go directly to the manufacturer’s website and update the video card drivers. If you are not sure about your graphics adapter, you can check using the following method: Press Windows+R key and type dxdiag.

Now you will see the “Display” tab, and you can now check your model name and manufacturer. However, some manufacturers don’t provide a ‘rotation’ facility.

#4. How Can You Rotate Screen on a Mac OS Based PC

Go to Apple Menu >>system preferences >> display options.
Now, you can now set rotations by selecting 90°, 180°, or 270°.
Make sure that ‘Mirroring’ is not enabled – Click the “Arrangement” tab and uncheck the “Mirror Displays” box to disable it.

  • For OS 10.9 or below: Click the Apple menu and select System Preferences.
  • Press and hold Cmd+ Opt and click the “Displays” option.
  • Now you will be able to see Rotation menu, in your built-in display.
