How to Install a Printer for Your Computer?

Installing a computer printer, basically, involves two steps. One, installing the software which allows your computer to communicate with the printer and the other one is establishing the connection.

The connection between a printer and the computer can be made via two mediums. One parallel and the other way is via using a USB cable. Most of the printers used in recent time mainly support USB.

If you have an old system, then you will have to use the parallel connections. Since this is the only options provided on old computers.

In today’s article, we will let you know the complete step by step guide on how to install a printer for your computer,
So, let’s not waste much time and get started with the guide How to install a printer for a computer. 

How to Install a Printer For Your Computer

The guide on how to install a printer contains all the steps that will help you to learn to install the printer. In this guide, we have provided almost all the steps with the screenshot.

But before following the steps, make sure all the cables are properly connected on both ends i.e., the computer and the printer. If it is so, move to the steps given below. And if the cables are not connected, then before following further steps, make sure you do connect them.

In the guide on how to install a printer on Windows, I will let you know all possible ways to install a printer on your computer. First, we will begin with the Printer Wizard. The steps are given below.

Step 1: first of all click on the start button displaying on the taskbar and go to the control panel.

Step 2: In the control panel, pick the category Printers and Other Hardware. Check out the below screenshot I have mentioned.

Step 3: As sooner you click on the Printers and Other Hardware option a new window will pop up. Here you will have to click on the Add a Printer option.

Step 4: When you click on the add a printer option, an Add Printer wizard will pop up. Click the Next button to enter the Local Printer wizard.

Step 5: In the next window, you will be provided with some options. There would be two radio buttons; you have to select the first option that is Local Printer attached to this computer.

Also, make sure the checkbox beneath this radio button i.e., Automatically Detect and Install my Plug and Play Printer is selected. If it is not, click on it. Once done, click Next.

Step 6: In the next step, you will see a New Printer Detection dialogue box along with the message Windows is searching for the new plug and play printers to install. 

If the wizard is unable to detect your printer in the New Printer Detection dialogue box, click Next to install the printer manually.

Step 7: When you click on the Next button, you will see a dialogue box I have mentioned below.

In the Use the Following Port drop-down menu, select the port for the printer to use. Once done, click Next.

LPT1 is recommended. But you can choose any if you want.

Step 8:  In the next window, you will have to select the manufacturer and the model of the printer from the Manufacturers and Printers section. Once done click on Next. 

And if you have Software Disk for the printer, then you will have to select the option Have Disk and insert the disk into your floppy or CD-ROM drive.

Step 9: After you click on the Next button, you will be asked to enter the name of the printer. You will see a dialogue box, similar to the image I have mentioned below.

In the image above, as you can see the name of the printer is highlighted. If you want to edit it or change it, simply remove the previous one and type the name you want. And try to keep the name as short as possible.

And if you want to keep the printer as default, then leave the Yes radio button selected just below the name.

Once done, click Next. 

Step 10: As sooner you click on Next, you will see a new printer sharing dialogue box. If you want to share your printer with other users, then select the radio button, Share name.

This is the name which appears in front of anyone when they select this printer for printing their documents. If you don’t want to share the printer, keep the radio button Do not share this printer selected and click Next. 

Step 11: As sooner you click on the next button, you are done. You will see a dialogue box, the Print Test Page. If you want to print a test page from the newly installed printer, keep the radio button selected as yes. And click on Next.

And if you don’t want to print a test page, select the radio button No, and then Next.

As sooner you click the Next button, you will see a completion wizard saying, completing the Add Printer Wizard. Simply click Finish.

And you are done!!

This is how to install a printer for your computer. This was the most useful way to install the printer. Another way to install a printer is by using the CD drive.

For this, you will have to establish all the connection as mentioned above and then Insert the CD that came with the printer.

If the CD doesn’t start automatically, you will have to go to My computer and open the CD drive. Once done, open the setup.

In case, the CD is not working, or you are facing any issues with the above method I mentioned, you can download drivers as well and install them to the computer.

And you will be able to install the printer on your computer.

How To Use Fitbit Flex?

What is a Fitbit?? Wait, did you just ask me that???

The Fitbit is an American company created and managed by James Park and Eric Friedman. The company keeps introducing the new health related products starting with the same name Fitbit. The Fitbit Flex is one such device, introduced on October 10, 2013.

The Fitbit flex lets you track your physical activity including heart rate, the number of steps walked, distance traveled, calories burned, stairs climbed, quality of sleep and more! You can sync the Fitbit data with the app to find out the performance.

We are not supposed to give you the complete Fitbit flex review but we will tell you How to use Fitbit flex and how does Fitbit work.

How to Use Fitbit Flex:

The health is something no one wants to risks with. Being fit makes you live the life to the fullest. The Fitbit flex bands help you keep yourself fit on just a few bucks. If money can buy you health, apparently you are serendipitous.

Spending on Fitbit Flex is alike to buying your health. So let’s check out how does Fitbit flex helps keep people fit. Although, you get the Fitbit flex manual which describes the exact way of using Fitbit but if you haven’t purchased it yet and wants to know the working of it, read out the below guide.

Step 1.  Selecting the right wrist belt and putting it on

When you buy the Fitbit Flex, you get the two wristbands, 1 is of small size and 1 is of large. You need to select one for you suiting your wrist size. If the suitable size for you is the larger belt, you don’t need to do any changes just go to the step two.

And if the right size for you is the smaller size, you need to remove the clasp out of the large belt. To do that, push the clasp into the broad belt inside the wrist belt with the help of your thumb. Now remove the fastener out of the large wrist belt and insert it gently into the smaller one.

Use both your thumbs to set the clasp flat and inline into the small wristlet. Once you have properly shifted the clasp, you are ready to put on the flex on your wrist. Now it’s time to go to the step number 2.

Step 2. Inserting the tracker into the wristband

After selecting the correct wristband for you, it’s time to insert the tracker into the band. In order to do that, take the flex tracker out of the box and hold it in your hands. You’ll see a gray arrow marked on the tracker.

Simply insert the tracker in the flex band in a way that the arrow is pointing upwards the holes in the belt. If you are facing difficulty in understanding what I meant, consider looking at the below image.

Step 3. Installing Fitbit software and Syncing your tracker data to your Fitbit account:

Once the above two steps are completed, it’s time to set up and install the Fitbit software. You can install Fitbit apps and software on your Android device, IOS, computer or tablet, depending upon where you would like to keep the track of your physical data.

You need to follow the different methods to install Fitbit software on various devices.

#On Mobile:

The Fitbit app is compatible with more than 200 devices for now including windows 10, Android and IOS. Here’s how to install Fitbit on various devices.

  • First of all, you need to check if your device is compatible with the Fitbit app. For this visit http://www.fitbit.com/devices and check if your device is compatible with the Fitbit app. If your device is compatible for Fitbit, you are good to go to the next step.
  •  Now visit the relative app store i.e. Google play store for Android and Apple store for IOS and download the app. You might need to login to the associated account.
  • Once the app is downloaded, install it up and connect it to the Fitbit by clicking on Join Fitbit. 
  • Now follow the steps carefully appearing on your screen. Once all the steps are followed carefully, your mobile device will be in sync with Fitbit which ensures the correspondence between Fitbit and your mobile.

#On Computer:

Installing the Fitbit software on the computer is also very easy. If doesn’t have an Android, iPhone or any similar hand device, you can easily sync your Fitbit data to your mac or windows 10 PC.

For windows 10, you need to install the same app as we did on the windows 10 mobile. Click the start menu> Store. Simply download the Fitbit app, double-click on it and follow the instruction on screen to install the software and sync it with you Fitbit account.

For mac, visit http://www.fitbit.com/setup, download the software for mac. Double-click on the setup file and install it as per the instructions are given on the screen.

Once the Fitbit account is in sync with your computer or mobile, you can easily track your fitness data using Fitbit Flex.

But one question might still haunt your brain that what to do when Fitbit Flex gets discharged??

In usual cases, the flex battery lasts up to 5 days without having you to charge it. You can check the battery status by logging into your Fitbit account. When the battery indicator shows the low battery status, you need to charge it.

In order to charge Fitbit flex belt, take the charging cable from the Fitbit box you get while buying it, plug it int your computer. When done, take the tracker out of the flex wristband, and insert it into the charging cable.

But wait, even though, you have put the query of adding the numbers, isn’t the excel smart enough to proceed to that query???  It is!! Confused?? Let me explain.

When you put any query to the excel like if you want two numbers to be added you will need to specify the query with the symbol “=”. If you don’t do this and put the query like 5+5, excel will consider those as digits what you have put in the sale and will interpret the symbols there as a label, not as a formula.

So in order to let excel know you want to perform an action, you will need to mention the symbol “=” before the digits and then press Enter. To get it better check out the below screenshot.

#2: Adding By Address

This is another way to sum up the data in the Microsoft excel program. In this method, you will need to mention the address of the cell you want the addition of.

To do so, you will need to enter one cell whether it is row or column and the other one just after the previous cell. Put the symbol + in between both the cell. Again remember, start the formula just by preceding them with an equal sign. See the screenshot.

#3: Adding Columns

Let’s try out another example. Imagine if you have a list of numbers placed in a column and you want the sum of all the numbers. In such a situation, what would you do? Well, it’s again pretty easy.

There are two methods you can try to sum up the column numbers. One we have already discussed above i.e by putting the cell numbers. This is pretty easy and useful if you have a short list of the numbers.

Yes, if you have a limited number, then typing out the cell names manually could be easy but, if the list is longer then this task seem to be very difficult. So in such case, you will need to try another method which I have described below.

To add any series of cells that are contiguous. All you will need to do is put all the data in a series and use the excel function sum(). In the enclosure, you will need to put the address of the first cell, a colon, and then the address of the last cell. Or, just click and drag the whole column down and it will automatically add the values. See Screenshot

Once you are done filling the cell numbers press Enter.

As you can see in the image, all the data between the first cell to the last cell, including everything in between have been added. This method is mostly used when the list of data is higher.

#4: Adding manually by shortcuts:

Last but not the least. This is the last method to summing up the data. If you don’t remember any formula, or have no idea about the cell or in case if the list is too large to check the first cell and the last cell then you can add the data manually by dragging the cells.

Let me explain it briefly! If you have put the digits in the excel cells and want to add them up, select  that cell and the address will be added automatically. Now you will need to put the column after the cell is selected and then select the last cell by clicking on it. Make sure you don’t use any space between the first cell, colon, and the last cell. Now simply press enter and you would see the result right there.

This is one of the most used methods. Even I prefer using this since you don’t have to enter any cell number, any data or any other formality is required.

So this is how we can easily add up the data in MS Excel. These were the most useful and easy to use methods that are used for calculating the data, adding up the digits and creating the result sheets. Excel can also be used to calculate other mathematical problems. You can also divide in excel. Along with that, you can represent numerical data in an impressive way by creating charts on Excel.

Right now it’s the “Digital Era” isn’t it? Even if you’ve never been into codes, the one “digital desire” you just have is, to have your own website, don’t you? So well, that’s exactly what I’m explaining in this piece, How to create a Website.

By the end of this piece you’ll get a neat idea if you’ve had any doubts regarding how to make a website, or how to create your own website or anything distantly related.

What is a Website?

I’m sure you might have read this exact same subheading enough times, but nope this one isn’t going to be like them.

The kind of things I’m talking about in this piece, in order to help you make your own website, aren’t “too” advanced, they’re basic, but they’ll get you started.

Okay so let’s get down to the point. What is a Website?

A Website, is a “page” on the internet. It’s a page where you share your stuff, Sell something or just write. It’s a page that is accessible all across the globe, and it’s the page that has the potential to make you money, lot’s of money.

Is there only One Kind of Website?

Definitely not, there are over 50 different kind of websites. Starting from general “blogs”, to super complicated, custom coded Social networks and E-commerce stores.

But those are not what we will be making today.

In this piece today on how to build a website, I’ll be sharing with you  how to make your own website, that’s simple, doesn’t cost your a fortune, and still makes you money. (Or maybe not, that’s your choice.)

What do You Need to Make a Website:

Lies you’ve been told about making your own website:-

If you’ve been told you need to be a expert with HTML, Javascript, CSS and all that in order to know how to start a website, you’ve been told a lie.

I’m 19, and I don’t know shit for codes, still I’ve been making websites for a living, and I’ve been pretty successful at it too. So I speak from experience.

Or, if you’ve been told you need a fortune and a bank balance that looks like a cell number to make your own website, that’s a lie too!

I’ll list out the “simpler” things you’d be needing in order to create your own website:-

  • A Domain.
  • A server.
  • A CMS (I’ll be explaining WordPress, nope not just blogs, you can even make full fledged E-commerce sites with it!)

If you don’t want to spend any money on your first website, here is how to start a blog for free.

How to Create a Website:-

The Domain Name:-

So okay, we start with the domain name. A domain name the first step towards creating your own website. It’s the “address” of your website.

For eg. in our case, we have experthoot.caddressthe adress. And that’s what you typed to get here, right?

Guess what! Domain names are cheap! Yeah they are.

Some other platforms you can get domain names from:-

  • Godaddy.
  • BigRock.
  • Namecheap.

Registering a domain name takes minutes. so well just head over to any of the above options, and choose your domain name. Here is guide to buy a domain. This explains how to buy a Domain before starting a website.

Tips While Buying a Domain Name:-

  • Keep it Short.
  • Keep it simple.
  • Don’t use high diction.
  • Don’t use numbers and dashesh.
  • Keep it “brandable”.
  • Keep it unique.

The Servers:-

The servers are where your files are stored. You’ll be uploading images, text, and probably even videos to the websites, right?

And then there’s the core-code on which the site runs, so you need space for all of that right? Well you need “servers” for them.

Now, getting servers is just as easy as getting domain names, or maybe signing up a Facebook acount! Yeah, nothing complicated with them.

First things first, head over to a Good Server company and get yourself a descent one.

So once you’ve got the servers (which I insist you take from Bluehost, because all that there is to consider, starting from Speed, bandwidth and space, has been considered and evaluated before recommending that to you!)

You only need to link your nameservers to your domain, that you can do by:-

  • Going to your Domain Control Panel.

  • Then, click on the little arrow that’s there alongside your domain name, and select Manage DNS from it!

  • Now scroll down a bit to find the “nameservers’ section. Well it’s easy just click on Change, and edit the nameservers with the nameservers you get with your servers!

Done!

Installing the CMS:-

CMS- Content Management System. And well there’s no other service that can surpass WordPress when it comes to building an easy, simple yet professional website.

So well, just login to your servers. And on the SearchBar, search for “Softaculous” (This is the hub which has all the “1-click install modules” for you).

Now just click on it, and you should see the WordPress icon right there at the top. (Considering it poweres world’s 1/4 websites!)  So just hover over it, and click Install.

On the next page, just fill in the Details. The page is pretty simple, although I’d say you can leave the “directory” field blank if you want your site to be exactly at your URL, like www.yoururl.com instead of being at www.yoururl.com/directory. Anyway the choice is yours.

So once you’ve filled in the details, click on install! Done!  Now you would get the login details and the Login URL mailed to you on the Email Id you entered while setting up WordPress. More Than a “Blog”?

Not just a “WordPress blog”. Using the installer at Softaculous, you can lieterally create just about anything you wish for!

  • Forums.
  • Membership Sites.
  • E-commerce Platforms.
  • Social Networks
  • Or anything else!

Just choose those modules, like “prestashop-for E-commerce” instead of WordPress and the rest of the procedure is almost the same!

Step 1: First of all, try finding out some additional details about the router you’re using like what security type it is using and which channel it is broadcasting on.

Step 2: Now open up your wireless network connection, you are connected through.

For Windows XP: Go to the network connection (that your router is connected through)> click on status > support. You will see the following screen I’ve mentioned below.

For Windows 7/8/10 and Vista: Go to the Network and Sharing Centre> Change adapter settings> then right-click on the connection and go to statusDetails. You will see the screen mentioned below.

The window will show you the computer’s IP address and the Gateway. The Gateway is the address of your primary router. Note down that!

Step 3: Now open up the web browser and in the address bar type the gateway you noted earlier. Hit enter.

Step 4: After you press enter, you will be asked to enter the username and the password. If you already know that, fill the fields, and if you are not aware of the Id and password, check underneath the router. Probably you will get that there.

After you have entered the ID and password, you will gain the access to the router’s configuration.

Step 5: As you can see in the above screen, you are provided with various options and the settings. Here, you have to do nothing but check some settings like, wireless settings, the channel, router name, and the security type.

Note the security type because it would be required while adding the spare router.

Step 6:  Now, reset the old router to its factory settings. To reset the router, try finding a small whole usually placed at the back of the router. In the power on mode, insert a thin clip or something similar to that. Within few seconds or so, release the pin. And all the lights on the router would blink for a second, and the router would be reset to its factory settings.

Step 7: Now connect the second router to a PC, which is not connected to your network. Try to turn off your main router for a few minutes until the setup of the spare router is done.

And if you don’t have additional PC, then disconnect the main router from your network temporarily. Once done, follow the steps from 1 to step 3 until you reach the same position that is configuration page.

Step 8: Once you are on the configuration page, go to the wireless settings page. Here, you will have to enable the wireless. Change all the settings, security type, and password and make them similar to the primary router.

Step 9: Now you need to give the spare router fixed IP address which the primary router will recognize and work with.

That’s it!! You are almost done. Now head over to the LAN settings page and make the spare router’s IP address of same as the main router.

After the above steps are done, follow the below-mentioned steps.

  • Go to the Setup and change the current mode from Gateway to Router.
  • Disable DHCP Server. Our main router will handle the task of assigning IP addresses to devices connected to the wireless network.
  • Now change the IP address of the spare router to any other address. For example, if the Ip address of your main router is  192.168.30.2, you can harmlessly assign an IP address of 192.168.30.3 to SLAVE router. Now save all the settings and close the browser. Remember this address you might need later. So be careful!

Once done, you are good to go. Connect them with an Ethernet cable. Pick any of the available LAN ports on the Main router and connect it to any of the LAN ports on the spare router using an Ethernet cable.

After all the settings are done in the mentioned way, it’s time to check the network signals. Connect the wireless connection in any of the device and you will see you have successfully setup your router as a repeater and have successfully extended the wifi range.
