#Method 2: Repair System Files

Step 1: To repair the system file, you will have to run System File Checker. This will check for missing and damaged Windows system files and repair them.

Step 2: For this, go to the command prompt and type the command SFC /scannow. And hit enter

Before following the previous step, make sure you run the command prompt as an administrator.

#Method 3: Restart Explorer.exe

If there is something wrong with the explorer.exe process, then you may face the desktop icon missing error. With this, not only the desktop icons but the entire taskbar disappears also.

So, to fix the issue, you will have to restart the explorer.exe. For this, press, CTRL + ALT + DEL and click on Task Manager.

Now in the task manager, you will have to click on the File menu. In the file menu, you will see two options, one, New Task (Run), and the other one is an Exit task manager. Click on the New Task (Run). Check out the screenshot below.

As sooner you click on the New Task(Run) option, you will see a dialogue box, Create New Task. And the dialogue box will look like the image I have mentioned below. In the dialogue box, all you have to do is type explorer.exe. Once done, click on Ok.

Step 2: After clicking on the sign-up option, you will be redirected to a page where you will have to fill a form and provide the information. Including your name, email address, and some more basic info.

Step 3: Once you are done filling up the form, click on the I agree and Create my account. See the image below.

Step 4: Once you click on the I agree and Create my account option, you will see a screen as I have mentioned below.

In the above screen, as you can see you are asked to enter the Online ID. This online ID is your publicly displayed name. It appears publicly and to all of your friends.

Be careful while choosing the Id. Because once you select the ID, you won’t be able to change it again. Once done, click on Continue. 

Step 5: After clicking on the continue, you will see a new window where you will be asked to enter your First name and Last name and the security question. Fill all the mandatory fields and click on Continue. 

Step 6: After that, again fill the given form and follow all the instructions showing on the screen. Once done, click on Continue. 

As sooner you click on the continue button, you will be taken to the billing information. If you want to make a purchase, you will need to provide the credit card information. For that, click on Yes, else click on No

Blurring an image is a feature that comes out really handy when we have something inappropriate in the picture or something we are not comfortable sharing with others. When we have taken a photograph and later we realize some inappropriate elements in it, the only thing that strikes through our mind is blurring it.

But again, I would like to remind you that these effects can be used just to give the sharpness to the image not the unblurring.

Let’s check out how to fix a blurry picture using the photoshop with step by step guide. Once we are done editing images with photoshop, we will see some other tools to unblur a picture.

Step 1: First of all, go to the photoshop software and open the photo you want to unblur. To open the picture go to File > Open > Chose your blurry image. 

Step 2: Once you are done selecting the picture, duplicate the background layer. To do so, press CTRL+J. 

Step 3: Now go to filter option from the menu bar and select Others and then High Pass. Set the radius to 10-15 pixels. Else the image would go grainy.

Step 4: After you are done setting up the radius, click on Ok. 

Step 5: Now go to the Blending option and set the blending mode of the layer to Hard Light. and adjust the Opacity accordingly. Set the opacity you think makes the image look better. If you are not able to decide, set it to default i.e 50% for the better results.

And you are done. Now save the image and compare it to your previously blurred image and see the difference.

Word includes a built-in horizontal line feature to easily add lines. It quickly inserts a horizontal line in the document. Take a look at how to insert horizontal line in word:

  1. Keep the cursor where you want to insert it. Now, open the Home tab and in the Paragraph group, you will see a small square box and along with it a drop-down button. Click it.
  2. Select the option Horizontal Line and a line will be inserted in the Word document.
  3. Once a horizontal line is created, double- click on the line to select it. Format Horizontal Line dialog box will appear, where further adjustments related to height and width can be made and even color to the line can be added.
  4. In fact not only a Horizontal line, but you can also even add inside and outside horizontal and vertical borders via the same option.

Note- To remove or delete the horizontal line, just click it once and it will be selected. Now, simply press either the Delete or Backspace key.

Inserting Lines via Auto-Format

The best and the most convenient method to insert lines in Word file is by using the AutoFormat function. These are basically small tricks using which you can easily insert lines in your Word document. However, this trick works only on MS Word and MS Outlook.

When you type at least three dashes, underscores, or equal signs in a paragraph and press “Enter”, automatically a single, double horizontal line or a dotted line is formed, i.e. just by typing these characters and pressing Enter, the desired line will be formed.

Take a look at various such characters used to insert line in word:

  1. First of all, place the cursor where you want to add a line. Now, here enter any of the characters accordingly, and Press Enter. The line inserted will cover the full width of the page.
  2. Type three hyphens together (—) to form a single Horizontal line.
  3. Type three equal signs (===) to form a double horizontal line.
  4. Type three asterisks (***) to form a dotted line. (…..)
  5. Type three underlines (___) together, to form a broader and darker horizontal line.
  6. Type three tildes together (~~~) to form a tilted design line.
  7. Type three-pound or number signs (###) together, to form a bunch of broad and sleek horizontal lines.

Note- In case you add this line to the column, the line will cover the full width of the column.

Adding Lines between Columns

It is obvious that while writing any document, you display text in columns, instead of standard paragraphs. In case you want to add or draw vertical lines between columns, you can easily do it Word. Some people may prefer doing it via a Shapes tool, but there is a much easier way to do this.

Take a look at how to make a line in word columns:

  1. Place your mouse cursor on the text that you want to be displayed in columns.
  2. Choose Page Layout ribbon tab and select Columns. At the bottom of the list, choose More Columns.
  3. In the Columns dialog box, you can see an option called Line between. Tick mark the checkbox next to it.
  4. You can even adjust the column width and spacing between these columns via this box.  You can specify the number of columns you want to use from the number of columns list.
  5. In the Apply To box, click the drop-down arrow and select This Point Forward. By doing so, the column will be inserted only where you have placed the cursor, and not in the entire document. Click OK.

Your text will be now displayed in columns with a line between each one.  Adding a vertical line between columns in Word is easier and can be done by the above-stated method, easily.


Considering spacing via lines is usual while designing or formatting a document.  It adds appeal to your document and makes it easier for your audience to read. Moreover, adding lines is really useful if you preparing a questionnaire, i.e. to be filled by the audience.
