How to Burn a CD/ DVD on Windows?

Published

on

Compact Disks aka CDs have become a rare breed nowadays due to the invasion of flash drives and external hard drives. But when you want a cheap way to carry persistent data on the go, we can’t overlook CDs.

DVDs are the upgraded version of CDs, which have more storage capacity. Everything else is the same.

Do you know how to burn a CD or DVD? If not, you have landed on the right spot. Today, I am going to show you how to burn CDs.

How to Burn a CD/ DVD on Windows?

Burning a CD or DVD on Windows is not an arduous task. You can start the process right away. Here in this tutorial, I will be explaining how to burn a CD with and without a third- party tool.

So, at the end of this post, you will not have the question ‘how can I burn CDs on Windows’.

Method 1: Using the Default App on Windows

If you don’t want to use a third-party tool to burn files to a disk, use this method. Or you prefer more advanced features, you can go with the next method in which we make use of a desktop tool. (I am using Windows 10 here).

Follow the steps given below to burn a CD or DVD.

Step 1: Insert a writable CD or DVD into the tray. A notification like the given image is shown when the disk is detected.

Step 2: Open This PC (If you are using earlier versions, there is no This PC. You can open My Computer). You will see every drive connected with your computer there. Make sure that the disk you inserted is free and writable.

Step 3: Right click on the disk button and choose Burn to disk from the list of options you get on the menu. Then a small window will get opened asking you to enter a disk title and select a burning option. (The same window will be got even if you choose Open).

Enter a title that makes you realize what’s inside the disk. It will be helpful if you are dealing with many CDs.

Choosing a burning type is crucial. To get it done, you should understand what the purpose of burning is. If you want to use the disk as a USB drive (add and delete files into it), don’t hesitate to choose the first one that says Like USB flash drive.

Do you want to know how to burn music to a CD? Or you want the disk to be played with a regular CD/ DVD player? Then, choose the second option that says With a CD/ DVD player.

And click Next.

Step 4: Now, you will see the disk window with no files in it. Sometimes, you can see a .ini file there. Don’t worry about that either.

Here, we have to copy the files into the Window. Do it just like you copy and paste files between folders (that is, select the files>> Right click>> Copy>> Go to destination>> Right Click>> Paste).

Step 5: As you can clearly see in the image, the copied files will be tagged under ‘Files ready to be written to the disk.' Means, the files haven’t burnt to the CD. To do that, right-click on an empty part of the window and then, choose Burn to disk from the list of items on the menu.

Step 6: Here, you have to choose the writing speed. The higher the speed, the faster the process will be. But remember, the lesser the speed, the better the burning is.

After selecting the writing speed, click Next. If you want to close the wizard on completion of the process, just tick the checkbox just above the Next button.

That’s all. Now, you can see the progress bar as the process is already started. It will take time according to the writing speed you have chosen.

After the burning is completed, you will get this window if you haven’t ticked that checkbox. Select the option, which says ‘Yes, burn these files to another disk.' And click Finish. And wait some time to get the next CD written.

I hope you now know how to burn DVDs or CDs.

Method 2: Using Nero

Nero is an absolute stunner when it comes to CD burning. You will get many features and options with it. Here, you are going to know how to burn CDs with Nero.

Step 1: Insert an empty writable CD or DVD into your computer and make sure that it’s empty by opening the My Computer or This PC.

Step 2: Download and install Nero. Then, you will have a desktop icon. Use the same to open Nero window. You can see something like the image given below. Choose Create and Edit tab.

Step 3: Go down to click on Author, Edit, etc. Wait some time to get another window loaded.

Step 4: You will get Nero Vision with some choices to make. Select one from there based on what type of CD/ DVD you want to burn. (I chose Video DVD here). And, wait a bit.

Step 5: The next window allows you to add files to the DVD. Click on Add video files or just drag and drop files into the whitespace.

Step 6: If you want, you can rename the file right from the Nero window.

Next window allows you to customize the background and menu items. Use your creativity to proceed with it. No problems if you don’t choose to play with the customization settings. Just click on Next to go further.

Step 7: A final preview will be shown to you. It is possible to test the video with a virtual remote controller here. Click next to go to the final step.

Step 8: That’s all. After the conversion process is completed, you can click on the burn to finish the process.

You now know how to burn music to a CD or DVD (not only music though).

I hope that’s enough. Let me know if you have any issues regarding this. Do share this post on social media and help your fellas.

How to Recover Deleted Pictures From SD Card?

Published

on

How to recover deleted pictures

Many times, it would happen that you accidentally deleted some important pictures from your SD card, and now you want to recover it. For this “How to recover deleted pictures from SD card?” becomes an obvious question.
So, let’s get started:

How to recover deleted pictures from SD card?

The prerequisites for the methods which we will be sharing over here require a system, the SD card from which you want to recover the deleted pictures and some software which we will be mentioning over here.

So, let’s get started:

Method 1: Making use of PhotoRec.

Step #1: In this very first step, we recommend you to stop accessing your SD card because chances are high that if you will continue using the SD card the data may get overwrite. So, if that happens then you may not be able to recover the photos.

So, we advise you to unmount your memory card right away. This way the chances are less than the data get overwritten by new data.

Once you are done with this, then you can proceed to the next step.

Step #2: Now, you are required to download the PhotoRec software. It is a cross-platform application that you can use in any operating system.

Be it Windows, OS X or Linux. In order to download PhotoRec software, you can consider making a search query on your search engine with the relevant terms and then clicking on the most appropriate link.

Once you are done with the download, then you need to extract the program.

The main fact about this program is that you need not install this application on your system.

You just have to extract the Photorec_os (here OS means your operating system that is, if you are using windows then the program would be named as Photorec_win) program from the ZIP file which you have just downloaded.

Step #3: Now, you need to insert the memory card on your system. You can insert it via any SD card reader or through the USB cable.

You now need to run the application named as “photorec_win.exe” (or photorec_os.exe). The Photorec application runs on the command-line interface.

You will have to use the arrow key to navigate through the program.
You will see the list of available drives on your screen. Now, you are required to select your SD card from the list and once you have done that all that you require is to hit enter.

Step #4: Since your SD card must be having only one partition then you need to select it to sing the arrow keys. Now, you require selecting the “File Opt” menu which is located at the bottom of the window.

From the menu which appears afterward, you need to deselect all those files which you are not looking for. We recommend you to be specific about the file type as it will increase the speed and chances of the recovery.

Step #5: After successfully executing step #4, you now have to select the search menu option in order to proceed further. After this select the file system type as “other”.

Once you are done with the mentioned, you now will be prompted to select the space or section which needs to analyze.
If you are looking for only deleted files, then you need to select “free” else you should consider going for “Whole.”

Step #6: In step #6, you have to select the directory where you want to save the recovered files. After this, you are required to wait for the process of recovering to complete.

This may take time depending upon the size and numbers. In the meanwhile, you will be seeing the recovered files on your screen.

Once the entire process is complete, you can now see the recovered pictures in the destination folder.

This way, you just recovered pictures from your SD card.

Method 2: Making use of Data Rescue 3.

This application is exclusively for the MAC system. So, if you are using MAC, then this section is absolutely for you.

Step #1: As already said in the previous method, you are advised not to access the SD card any further until the pictures are not recovered.

Step #2: After step #1, you are required to download and install Data Rescue 3 on your system. Let us tell you that Data Rescue 3 is not a free application and you need to purchase it. It is a very powerful program for MAC if you wish to recover your deleted stuff.

Now, you need to insert your SD card into your MAC. In case if you don’t have a memory card slot on your system then you should use an external card reader or the data cable for the same purpose.

Step #3: Now, launch the Data Rescue 3 application. Once the application is open in front of you, then you need to click on “Start New Scan”.

Once the scan is complete, you will see a list of drives from which you have to select your SD card.

After this, you will be prompted to select the volume but as SD cards primarily have only one volume so, you need to select that one only. In case, if your SD card is having multiple volumes, then you need to select the entire SD card.

Step #4: After this, you need to select your scan method. As you have landed on this article, we assume that you have to recover deleted pictures. So, you must go for “Deleted Files Scan”. However, you can choose anyone from the available ones.

Step #5: After Step #3, you need to wait for a while for the scan process to complete. Once the process is complete, you have to choose the files which you want to recover.

The moment you are done choosing the files, click on “Recover” and then select a convenient location to save those files.

So, this way you can easily recover deleted pictures from a memory card.

With this, we have reached the end of this article on how to recover deleted pictures from SD card?

We hope that this will do the needful for you. Thank you for reading and stay tuned.

How to Take a Selfie?

Published

on

Selfie is what's running the generation these days, no one snaps just “pictures”, everyone's up for Selfies. Heck, right now there are about a dozen cell phones, targeted specifically around “Selfies”, that explains their popularity. So, how about a piece on How to take a Selfie?

If you ask Wikipedia, of what Selfies are, here's what it voices out- “A selfie is a self-portrait photograph, typically taken with a digital camera or camera phone held in the hand or supported by a selfie stick.”.

Ah, guess what, not just the people, even the Oxford dictionary recognizes the term now.

Now, there's a whole level of science that came up with how to take a perfect selfie. How about we focus on the minute details of what the Selfie actually should focus on, right?

Basic Definition:-

I won't complicate things for you, if you take a picture, of yourself or your group, holding the camera in your own hands, then it's a selfie. Now, what makes a Selfie great? Anybody can stand in front of the mirror, or use their cell phones' front cameras and snap images, right?

But not every Selfie is worth sharing, huh? So let's work around how to take a good selfie!

Here's How to Take a Selfie that's Perfect

Face

Well, yes that's what selfies primarily consist of, the face of the person holding the camera. You can expose your body a bit, but the primary concern is the face.

Although, there's no definite hard and fast rules on how to take the best selfie, still Lightening is a great controlling factor of how your Selfie is gonna look like.

So let's work around tweaking the lights around your selfie.

How to Take a Selfie on Sunset Or Sunrise:-

These are technically the two best times around which you should click your Selfies. Well, just because the angles and “threads” of light at those peculiar hours are just magnificent.

One of the best locations, at that specific time, is your window. Well, the glass reflects and refracts the light in such a way, that it comes out filtered on the other end, taking your selfies to another end of the universe!

How to Take a Perfect Selfie Using a Piece of Paper:

If I tell you that a piece of paper can guide your selfies towards perfection, you would probably say I've gone mad, well, I've not.

Instead of trying to debate this, and trying to prove me wrong, go out and try to place a piece of paper, below your chin while taking your next selfie.

A white piece of paper to be exact, and see for yourselves how the light is reflected and your selfie is illuminated with the best possible colour game.

Walk Away Rule:-

Well, it's natural for you to pick up your cellphone, think of taking a selfie, and then confuse yourself with the angle of your nose, strands of your hairs, and your expressions.

Which overall, just makes you extremely self-conscious, and as a result, your selfie looks like shit. The best way out of it is, “Walk Away”. Well, yes. At moments when you aren't sure about your face or expressions, or afraid of being too “imperfect”, just walk away.

A couple of minutes later, come back, and snap the selfie, immediately, without thinking much.

This reduces a lot of problems, and you get a natural portrait instead of a framed one, which is totally identifiable as being “posed” and not natural, which totally kills the spirit of what makes a good selfie.

Filters:-

Well, no matter how beautiful, or “not so beautiful” you are, photo filters are just the magic wand your selfies need. Try to get your hands on the best possible filters out there, I' say “Valencia” filter on Instagram is one of the best.

After clicking the selfies, pass them through some of the filters available out there till you find your match. And once you do, you shouldn't have a problem editing it to perfection!

Take Multiple Shots:-

According to Nick Barose, taking the perfect selfie in one go is not everyone's cup of tea. So he suggests, in order to take the best possible selfie, with the best possible angle, lightening, and overall performance, it's a good option to take more than once pictures.

Of course, using different angles and lightening methods can help make them diverse, and an overall variation in the total results can be seen.

If you're more serious about a “perfect selfie”, what you can do is, you can take, say 10 shots. Then look at each shot for that shot's perfection. For e.g., in one shot, the lightening might be perfect, in another angle.

So overall, just find out the perfect elements of each selfie, and then take one new fresh shot, combining all the elements of those perfect shots, for e.g., repeat that same perfect angle.

And lightning and everything else into this one shot, so that all those perfect elements can now be integrated into this one single shot.

And behold! You have your perfect Selfie to share on any kind of social media you might be interested in, so that's it, folks, probably you don't have any questions regarding how to take a selfie after this point, right? Yes, I guessed it already!

Step #3: Now, in this step, you need to locate the files or folders which you want to transfer to the memory stick or flash drive which you have plugged in.

Once you have found the desired file or folder which you want to store on the flash drive, then you need to copy the desired file or folder. To do so, you need to right-click on the folder or file and then from the menu; you have to select “Copy”.

After this, all that you require is to go to the removable drive and then paste the file or folder which you have just copied. This will start transferring the files, and once the process is complete, you will be done with the required.

How to Use Hex Color Picker?

Published

on

By

Are you a programmer who often uses hexadecimal codes of colors? Then, you need this simple tutorial more than anyone because here I am going to walk you through how to use hex color picker.

As a programmer or web designer, you keep an eye on every website you visit.

So, whenever you see an incredible color combination with an unusual color in it, you will dig deep into it. Here, you have to use a hexadecimal color picker until you become an expert in stating the hex code right.

How to Use Hex Color Picker?

You can use an HTML color code picker in multiple ways. Hence, I have divided this tutorial into several sections where you will get to know how to get the right HTML color codes.

#1. ColorPicker.com

As you can sense from the subheading, colorpicker.com is an online tool to pick color hex codes. You don’t need a guide to use the hexadecimal color picker of colorpicker.com due to its simplicity.

Nevertheless, I am going to explain the process of copying the HTML codes from this CSS color picker.

Step 1: At first, you need to visit www.colorpicker.com. Just copy the URL and paste it into the address. Alternatively, you can click on the address I have given here as well.

Step 2: Check the image given below. This will be the page you see after clicking on the link. The large box is what you want. There, you can select the color for which you want the coded alternative.

Then, there is a color slider that helps you slide between completely different colors (The previous one-box- allows you to choose between the variants of the same color).

The small square on the right indicates the chosen color. Have you noticed the bottom portion with H, S, B, R, G and B labels?

HSB and RGB are two color models. HSB stands for Hue, Saturation, and Brightness whereas RGB represents Red, Green, and Blue.

Step 3: At first, you need to decide the basic primary color. If you want a faint red color, you have to use the slider to choose the red one.

Step 4: Then, send your eyes to the large square on the left side of the slider. From there, you can choose the correct variant of the selected color.

Step 5: Now, look at the textbox placed above the large square labeled as ‘#’. If you have seen any hexadecimal codes in the past, you could see that every six-character code begins with a # symbol.

It is almost over now. Just copy that code and use wherever you want.

#2. Browser Extension

What if I give you a tool to pick a color from any webpage and generate its hexadecimal code? Isn’t that awesome? Actually, the tools that help you pick a color from other images are called eyedroppers.

Here, I am going to introduce an eyedropper tool to you that comes with a color picker as well.

The tool is called ColorZilla, and it is available for both Chrome and Firefox.

How to Use ColoZilla for Chrome

Follow the steps I have listed out below to find out how to use ColorZilla for Chrome.

Step 1: The very first step is to install the Chrome extension. You can do the same through two steps. If you want to download it from the official Google Chrome Web Store, just click here.

Also, you can download and activate the extension from the ColorZilla website as well.

You will see the homepage like this (refer to the image given below). Click on the first button that says ColorZilla for Chrome and Firefox. The website will automatically lead you to the correct page (As you are a Chrome user, you will see the download page for a Chrome extension).

Then, click on the blue button on the right with the newest ColorZilla version number on it to start the downloading option right away.

Step 2: Most probably, the extension gets activated right after the download. If it doesn’t, you can close and re-launch the browser.

Step 3: Now, you can see a new button on the browser toolbar. Just visit any website from where you have to choose the color to copy the CSS color code.

Step 4: Then, click on that button. And, select the first option that says ‘Pick Color from Page’. Finally, click on any part of the image to store the hexadecimal code of the color of that portion.

How to Use ColorZilla for Firefox

Step 1: Visit the ColorZilla website and choose the first option for downloading the Firefox add-on.

Step 2: Now, click on the ColorZilla icon on the toolbar or just press the eyedropper shortcut key. Oops!! Haven’t you said the shortcut? Press Shift+ Escape to launch the eyedropper tool quickly.

Step 3: If you want to store the hex codes of several colors, you can use Shift+ left click. The details of each color will be saved in the history palette.

Sometimes, links change colors on hovering over the same. This time, click the first time, and you will see the wrong color in the history palette. Then, choose ‘resample the last location’. That’s all.

As in a professional photo editor, you can zoom in, zoom out or pan the web page to be meticulous with your selection.

I hope you now know how to use the hex color picker in two ways.

A number of other online and offline tools are available. If any of these tools can’t satisfy your desire to have the correct hexadecimal code, just Google for an apt choice.

But I don’t think you will use Google for this purpose as these two tools are more than enough.

Wrapping Up

Even though I haven’t mentioned any desktop app until now, you can use the ColorPic tool from Iconico. If you are not a regular internet user, you can download this tool to work offline.

Have you got any doubts regarding the usage of these color picker tools? You can use the comment form down below to send the same to us.

Consider sharing this tutorial with your online buddies and be a helping hand for them.
