Starting windows 7 in safe mode is comparatively easy than windows 8. Let’s see how to do it.

Step 1. The very first is to turn on or restart your computer.

Step 2. Now wait for your system to gets ready to initialize and load the operating system. When the windows get prepare to reboot and start displaying the windows logo, press and hold the F8 key or repeatedly press it until you see the Advanced Boot Options Menu.

The screen will look similar to the below screen.

(If you can’t see the Advanced Boot Options Menu and your computer starts normally, then you’ll need to restart your computer again and repeat the procedure.)

Step 3. Now use the arrow up and down keys to navigate through the options visible on your screen.

Step 4. When the safe mode option is highlighted, press the Enter key.

Step 5. As sooner the enter key is pressed, your system will boot in the safe mode.

Now you are in the safe mode. Do the needful, either it is about removing the viruses or uninstalling any program. When you are done, come out of the safe mode by following the regular turn off or shut down procedure. Click on the Start Menu> Turn off Computer.

How To Start Windows 8 In Safe Mode

Tried pressing F8 for windows 8 too, but can’t get into the safe mode?? Now?? Well here’s when this guide turns out to be a significant help. Starting Windows in safe mode in Windows 8 is a completely different procedure than windows 7.

Here’s how to start in safe mode window in windows 8.

Method 1.

Step 1. To go to the safe mode in windows 8, open Run windows(Press Windows key+R) and type in msconfig and press Enter.

Step 2. Running this command will lead you to the System configuration windows.

Step 3. Now on the System Configuration Windows, you need to go to the Boot Tab. See the below screen to understand better.

Step 4. Ok once done everything properly, it’s time to move ahead and select the boot options. You need to check the option Safe Mode. Under this option, you can see 4 other options, select the option Minimal among them and click on OK.

Step 5. Now in the next pop-up windows, you’ll be asked to choose from Restart your computer now or later. Select the first option to select Restart.

The very next moment, you’re computer will restart in the safe mode.

Method 1.

Although the first method is enough for anyone trying to troubleshoot the computer. But, I’m describing the second method, in case the first method didn’t work.

Step 1. Press the power button first. Now press the SHIFT key and click on the restart button simultaneously.

Step 2. Once you do that, a new window will pop-up containing three options. Select the second option i.e Troubleshoot. See the screen below.

Step 3. Now in the next windows, select the third option i.e. Advanced Option.On clicking Advanced option, you’ll see the following screen.

Step 4. Now in the options provided, go to the Startup Settings.

Step 5. In the Startup Settings, select the option 4 i.e Enable Safe Mode and press Enter.

Step 6. That’s it. You are almost done. Just the last step left. As sooner you’ll press the restart button, your computer will reboot but before it enters into the Safe mode, you’ll be asked to choose the type of safe mode.

Now it’s up to your need, select any one of them and you are good to go!

1. Removing unnecessary program:

There are plenty of games and software which people only use for temporary testing. So you should sort out such an application and remove them from your system. Now you will ask me how? So here is the answer.

  • Click on the start button
  • Choose “control panel”
  • You will have a new window
  • Choose “Uninstall a program” from tag below “program” as shown in figure
  • The window will appear as shown in the figure below with all the programs listed. You can choose any of them (Unwanted) and by just clicking on them you can uninstall those programs.

2. Turn off windows components

There are plenty of windows features that we are not using. So it is advisable to remove them and keep our disks free. As mentioned above you can choose the control panel. Now select the program tab itself and you will have a window as shown in the figure below.

You can click on the option “Program and features”. You will be redirected to a new window. Here you have an option of “turn off windows features” on the left top corner of the window.

If you keep them on they keep using your temporary folder memory.

Some tips:

You can use .zip or .rar files to compress your data. That will save plenty of space for you. You can download WinZip and WinRar software. After installing them you can choose the files you want to have in .zip or .rar formate.

Press ctrl+right click on the selected file. This will redirect you to options pop up. Select add to the archive. Choose the format you want and click yes. That’s all.

Firstly, you have to download the Offline NT Password & Registry Editor and make a boot disk using ISO image which you have downloaded.

Step 2:

Boot your PC from the boot disk and you will see below image on your screen. On-screen, it asks if you want to select the first partition (Windows installed partition) then “1” is already selected, so just hit Enter.

Step 3:

The next screen will appear to choose the path to your registry. The default is fine don’t need to change it, so just hit Enter.

Step 4:

Now, the screen will appear displaying Password reset and many other options, don’t do anything because “1” is already selected so now also just hit Enter.

Step 5:

Here you will be prompted, whether you want to edit users or the registry. You want to edit user passwords, so hit Enter again.

Step 6:

Now, comes the main part and please don’t hit enter again (Just Kidding). The screen will show usernames which are available on your PC, so you have to enter that username for which you want to reset Windows password and now you can hit enter.

Step 7:

The next screen will show some advanced options no need to worry because you have to blank the password by selecting the “1” option and that’s probably been already selected so just hit enter and get reset Windows Password.

Step 8:

And now, you’ll have to save what you just did. So type an exclamation point to quit (or the “!” symbol), then type the letter “y” to save all your work. Now you can reboot your computer and of course, you will able to login into Windows without any problem.

You can integrate hMailServer with Microsoft SQL Server, or you can make use of an external Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL or MySQL database for the same. Features of hMailServer are it consists of multiple domains, auto-reply and forwarding options, Active Directory support, distribution lists, built-in backup, etc.

#) Connecting to hMailServer

Step 1:

Download hMailServer from here and install it to start setup hMailServer.

Step 2:

Open “hMailAdmin” (C:Program FileshMailServerbinhMailAdmin). A dialog box will be opened that allows you to connect to different hMailServer services.

Step 3:

Double-Click on the “localhost” to connect hMailServer. A small dialog box will be opened asking the password. Enter your password which you specified during the installation of hMailServer and click on “OK”.

Step 4:

If the password is correct then you have successfully started hMailServer Administrator.

#) Domains & Accounts

Now you have to specify your domain name for which you have to setup hMailServer.

Step 5:

From the last opened window, click on “Add Domain” or you can also start “hMailAdmin again”.

Step 6:

Enter your specific domain. As example, I have inserted “technobol.com” and click on save.

Step 7:

Now, you have to specify your email address on which you will receive and send an email. For that, Expand the Domains node in the tree to the left.

Step 8:

Click on your given domain name and click on “Add Account”.

Step 9:

Now, enter “webmaster” or “info” or you can put any name as per your choice in the Address box, set the password and click Save.

Step 10:

Now, in the tree to the left, you will find your Account and Address both.

#) Specifying the public hostname and SMTP relayer

For the working of hMailServer, you have to specify the public hostname.

Step 11:

From opened Window or start hMailAdmin and in the tree to the left, go to Settings > Protocols > click on SMTP

Step 12:

From the right-hand side click on Delivery of the e-mail tab. Into that, under the hostname enter the public hostname of the computer where hMailServer is running and click on Save.

Step 13:

Now, you have to specify SMTP relayer, so enter the hostname of your ISP’s email server, along with your credentials on that server in case it demands authentication and click on save.

Step 14:

You have successfully setup hMailServer and now you can use it.

Step 1: Open the Command Prompt in the administrator account. For that type below command:

As per your decision traverse below:

Step 2: Only verify System Files are Corrupted, this option will not change any of the Windows 7 System Files.

In the Command Prompt, type “sfc /verifyonly” and press Enter.

Step 3: Scan and repair Windows 7 System Files, note that this option will revert the system files such as explorer.exe back to its default state. So, it’s better to take the backup of System Files.

In the Command Prompt, type “sfc /scannow” and press Enter.

This will take some time, so keep patience. When the scan is complete you will see the below screen on your desktop and after that you can close command prompt.

Step 5: In Resource Hacker, select “ALL FILES” from the drop-down menu and navigate to the desktop to choose winlogon.exe.mui and click on open.

Step 6: In the left panel of Resource Hacker, Expand “String table > 63 and select 1033“.

Step 7: In the right panel of 1033, replace the “Welcome” text with your own text which you want to display while logging on in Windows 7 at both “1002” and “1005” locations (Ex: HELLO TECHNOBOL) and then click on “Compile Script“.

Step 8: Click on “File” and “Save“, then close Resource Hacker.

Step 9: Now, copy this modified winlogon.exe.mui file from the desktop and paste into My Computer > C: (system drive) > Windows > System 32 > en US > winlogon.exe.mui, it will ask for confirmation click Copy and Replace.

Step 10: Open Command Prompt (Win + R and type cmd) and type “mcbuilder“, press Enter and then close the command prompt.

Step 11: Restart the computer and log in to see the changes made. Hurray! You have Changed the “Welcome” Text Message at Log On in Windows 7.
