Alternative Solution:

If you think that you are not able to do that on your own, and you might mess up the configuration settings than it is highly recommended that you should get it done by other techno-geek who is already using such service. You will surely find one in your workplace, neighborhood, friends and even in your family who will be more than happy to assist you in that and fill all the required information on your behalf, hence allowing you to make the most out of it.

So that’s the procedure to access iPhone VPN and making it works for you in the best possible manner. How to Install a Printer for Your Computer?

Published

on

Installing a computer printer, basically, involves two steps. One, installing the software which allows your computer to communicate with the printer and the other one is establishing the connection.

The connection between a printer and the computer can be made via two mediums. One parallel and the other way is via using a USB cable. Most of the printers used in recent time mainly support USB.

If you have an old system, then you will have to use the parallel connections. Since this is the only options provided on old computers.

In today's article, we will let you know the complete step by step guide on how to install a printer for your computer,
So, let's not waste much time and get started with the guide How to install a printer for a computer.

How to Install a Printer For Your Computer

The guide on how to install a printer contains all the steps that will help you to learn to install the printer. In this guide, we have provided almost all the steps with the screenshot.

But before following the steps, make sure all the cables are properly connected on both ends i.e., the computer and the printer. If it is so, move to the steps given below. And if the cables are not connected, then before following further steps, make sure you do connect them.

In the guide on how to install a printer on Windows, I will let you know all possible ways to install a printer on your computer. First, we will begin with the Printer Wizard. The steps are given below.

Step 1: first of all click on the start button displaying on the taskbar and go to the control panel.

Step 2: In the control panel, pick the category Printers and Other Hardware. Check out the below screenshot I have mentioned.

Step 3: As sooner you click on the Printers and Other Hardware option a new window will pop up. Here you will have to click on the Add a Printer option.

Step 4: When you click on the add a printer option, an Add Printer wizard will pop up. Click the Next button to enter the Local Printer wizard.

Step 5: In the next window, you will be provided with some options. There would be two radio buttons; you have to select the first option that is Local Printer attached to this computer.

Also, make sure the checkbox beneath this radio button i.e., Automatically Detect and Install my Plug and Play Printer is selected. If it is not, click on it. Once done, click Next.

Step 6: In the next step, you will see a New Printer Detection dialogue box along with the message Windows is searching for the new plug and play printers to install.

If the wizard is unable to detect your printer in the New Printer Detection dialogue box, click Next to install the printer manually.

Step 7: When you click on the Next button, you will see a dialogue box I have mentioned below.

In the Use the Following Port drop-down menu, select the port for the printer to use. Once done, click Next.

LPT1 is recommended. But you can choose any if you want.

Step 8:  In the next window, you will have to select the manufacturer and the model of the printer from the Manufacturers and Printers section. Once done click on Next.

And if you have Software Disk for the printer, then you will have to select the option Have Disk and insert the disk into your floppy or CD-ROM drive.

Step 9: After you click on the Next button, you will be asked to enter the name of the printer. You will see a dialogue box, similar to the image I have mentioned below.

In the image above, as you can see the name of the printer is highlighted. If you want to edit it or change it, simply remove the previous one and type the name you want. And try to keep the name as short as possible.

And if you want to keep the printer as default, then leave the Yes radio button selected just below the name.

Once done, click Next.

Step 10: As sooner you click on Next, you will see a new printer sharing dialogue box. If you want to share your printer with other users, then select the radio button, Share name.

This is the name which appears in front of anyone when they select this printer for printing their documents. If you don't want to share the printer, keep the radio button Do not share this printer selected and click Next.

Step 11: As sooner you click on the next button, you are done. You will see a dialogue box, the Print Test Page. If you want to print a test page from the newly installed printer, keep the radio button selected as yes. And click on Next.

And if you don't want to print a test page, select the radio button No, and then Next.

As sooner you click the Next button, you will see a completion wizard saying, completing the Add Printer Wizard. Simply click Finish.

And you are done!!

This is how to install a printer for your computer. This was the most useful way to install the printer. Another way to install a printer is by using the CD drive.

For this, you will have to establish all the connection as mentioned above and then Insert the CD that came with the printer.

If the CD doesn't start automatically, you will have to go to My computer and open the CD drive. Once done, open the setup.

In case, the CD is not working, or you are facing any issues with the above method I mentioned, you can download drivers as well and install them to the computer.

And you will be able to install the printer on your computer.

These were the three ways to install a printer. I hope you found the guide useful. In the case of any confusion, you can drop the comment below.

And if you enjoyed reading the guide, have a look at the other tutorial by clicking here. You may find it useful too!

How to Get the Google Chrome Standalone Installer

Published

on

By

If you are reading this article, you must be on some sort of Internet Browser. Go ahead, tell me what browser is it?

Chances are it is Google Chrome!

Chrome is hands down the most preferred browser right now and with good reason too. The only hindrance to it is that you will have to download it off the internet every time you use a fresh installation of your desktop OS.

Well, not anymore! We have for you the chrome standalone installer!

But, before we get to that, let us find out why we are listing Chrome as the first choice browser and not any other browser.

Why Chrome of All Browsers?

Well, the answer is relatively simple. Chrome is the best browser around.

“But on what grounds?”, you ask.

On several, actually. Chrome has been found to be the fastest and most stable browser around.

Competitors Firefox and Microsoft with their new Edge browser seem to be catching up, but Chrome is yet to give up its crown. Opera had a salient feature with data connectivity, but even that has been remedied with a chrome plug-in.

Another feature that Chrome offers is syncing tabs and histories and passwords between the mobile and desktop counterparts and this is one feature that no one yet has been able to implement so perfectly!

Why the Chrome Standalone Installer?

You all must be wondering, what is the use of having a google chrome offline download because it's an internet browser! It won't function without the internet!

Well, let me give you three scenarios where you'd have to download chrome offline!

  1. If due to work or some other reason you have to install the browser on many machines simultaneously, then the chrome standalone installer comes in incredibly handy!
  2. If you're on a very slow internet connection, then downloading Chrome every time you start from a  fresh install of your OS can be tiresome! The google chrome offline download the app will save you some precious time!
  3. If you're on a metered connection then installing Chrome via online methods will blow a part of your data cap away! Download chrome offline for such situations.

How to use the Chrome Standalone Installer

There are two main environments where Chrome runs. Windows and Linux. We will discuss how to use the Chrome Standalone Installer in both of these.

As an extra, a valid and up to date link to the Android apk for Chrome will also be provided should one want it available on their Android devices!

#1. Offline Installer for Windows

Windows come loaded by default with Intenet Explorer. However, most of us substitute it with Chrome right off the bat!

For the installation procedure to be completely offline we will need to follow the steps as listed below.

Step 1

The first order of business is to check the architecture of the system we are running. We have to find out if we are running the 32 or 64-bit architecture of Windows.

This can be done with relative ease by right-clicking on the Computer icon> Properties.

Step 2

Next up we head on over to this link for the single user and this one for all user installations. This installer works with all versions of Windows from XP to Windows 10.

We also have a choice of the operating system here, 32 or 64 bit and based on what we found in Step 1 we install the version of Windows relevant to us.

64-bit users of Windows offline will find it at this link.

Step 3

The installer is saved on a thumb drive and is ready to be utilized on any Windows-based PC.

#2. Offline Installer for Linux

Now things can get a wee bit more tricky for Linux users out there. There are 4 main versions available!

Step 1

Figure out if you're running the 32 or 64-bit version of your OS just like before and if you're using Ubuntu or Fedora. Unfortunately, these are the only two Linux distros officially supported by Google.

If you have any other distro you may check out community builds in the link here.

Step 2

Now head on over to this link and choose the version you want to download!

Step 3

And like before, put in a safe storage media for future offline installations!

#3. Offline Installer for Android

And now for the bonus round! Chrome is generally bundled with Android as part of the Google Apps package.

However, a situation with which Custom ROM flashers must be very familiar with is flashing a micro version of Gapps that doesn't contain Google Chrome!

For those times you have to download chrome offline!

Here is the link to apk mirror for the latest apk of Chrome on Android.

And that brings us to the end of this article! If you are considering to upgrade to Windows 10, you might want to check out this article first!

Be sure to leave your comments down below and I'll get back to you with the solutions to any questions you might have!

Published

on

Something goes wrong with your computer? You should know about Start Windows 8 in Safe mode: this can help your computer to cure itself.

Windows 8, more specifically in older windows there was a simple workaround for booting your computer into safe mode. All you had to press the F8 key on your keyboard.

Windows 8 is different concerning how to boot in safe mode. Because the steps are completely distinct from the older version of Microsoft Windows.

This is because Windows 8 has it is own Automatic repair mode, which gives more options to troubleshoot your computer. However, you may have many concerns about where is the safe mode in Windows 8.

To make this article up to date, methods we are discussing in this article will work similarity on Windows 10, so even if you upgrade to Windows 10 in future, you’ll know how to boot into safe mode.

Note: all of this should work exactly the same in Windows 10 as it does in Windows 8.

How to Start Windows 8 in Safe Mode.

We are going through a number of possible methods you can use to boot your windows 8 in safe mode. Also, some of the methods are comparatively easier than others.

This means you can use a method which suits you most. Also, you have more than one option to do so, let’s get started with the easiest method.

Windows 8 has a safe boot mode option but for that, you could have played some minutes with it is recovery options. Which you probably didn’t, because you do not see it obvious to find something in this deep.

Windows 8 Still have the safe mode in the recovery options.  So again I am trying to say in Windows 8 recovery options are similar to Windows 10’s.

Try with this one When your computer starts press Shift + F8 keyboard buttons simultaneously.  (only pressing F8 button will not help you in this case)  It will boot your computer into automatic recovery mode.

Also, you can press the SHIFT button and then click on the restart icon, which is located on the lock screen to access recovery mode.

There can be 2 situations, we are discussing them first, you need to find what applies to you, then follow the steps.

Is your Computer able to start and shows you the Login Screen

First, you need to check that if you can boot your computer, that means there is nothing that is preventing you from booting into Windows 8. That also applies to Windows 10.

All you need to Press the keyboard's SHIFT button and then click the Restart icon. It will take you to the troubleshooting options, from there you can start Windows 8 in safe mode.

Your PC does not Boot, and you have a bootable Media

For this, you need to create a USB recovery drive, then use it to get into Recovery options and finally use it to boot your computer in Safe mode.

Also, just in case if you have Windows 8 or newer installation disc or USB drive, you can use that it to boot temporarily into safe mode.

If You cannot Boot to the Login Screen

When your computer is not booting to the login screen, the chance is high that you'll be presented with the Recovery screen.

Sometimes, it does not happen automatically; you need to press and Hold the SHIFT button and hitting the F8 button rapidly. This will sometimes work to boot your computer in the ‘recovery mode', where you can use the Advanced recovery options.

The new Computers don't allow you to do this directly.

Stick to the next section.

Use the Advanced Troubleshooting Tools to Enable Safe Mode

All right, once you hit the troubleshooting screen, by either using the SHIFT + Restart method, keep pressing the F8 button, using an installation media, or coming through the advanced repair options. You'll see this screen, and from here you can troubleshoot your computer.

On the Troubleshoot Display, click or Tap on the Advanced Options.

Next, select the ‘Windows Startup Settings' option. You know at now there is no mention of Safe mode. However, in the next display, you can see it.

See the last line says ‘Enable Safe Mode,' the Last step is to hit the Restart button.

When your Computer reboots, you should be able to see the next screen from where you can choose the Safe Mode. Use the keyboard's arrow button to select an option.

Getting To Safe Mode From Within Windows 8 or 10

You can always use this option, but this requires you to boot into windows in the first place. If this fits your situation, that means you may want to troubleshoot your PC, rather than to fix a bricked windows.

Press the Win+R key, this will open the RUN box. Inside the box type MSConfig and hit enter impatiently.

In the next display, switch to the Boot tab, and tick the Safe Boot box, and choose minimally or others that suit you best. Read the next section to know about the other options.

You have some extra options to choose the type of Safe boot.

  • + Minimal stands for normal safe boot mode.
  • + Alternate Shell is more safe, and with command prompt.
  • + Network is a safe mode with networking.
  • + Active Directory possibility concern to repair a server that is a Domain Controller for your network.

After you choose the option that suits you the best, click either OK or Apply and when prompted make your Computer Restart.

If everything goes right, your Computer will boot directly to the safe mode and from there you can perform several tasks, that is all up to you, here we only limit yourself to guide you on how to start windows in safe mode. You should know what you are going to do then.

So this is it, now you can do several things like removing drivers and apps and change system settings.

Please note, that even if you restart your computer, you'll be again booted in Safe mode, to prevent this, press Win+R key and type MSConfig and disable the tick box that says Safe mode.

Then hit the ok button, now just a matter of restart your Computer will be booted into normal windows.

Conclusion.

That was all about it, Feel free to ask a query, for that you need to scroll and type anything related to this article. We'll be happy to help you. When you start Windows 8 in safe mode, you can do several things to troubleshoot your computer.

A quick tip: Here is how to start the computer in safe mode if it has windows 7 or older – When your PC start's press the F8 button and choose the Safe Mode.

How To Take a Screenshot On Windows

Published

on

A screenshot is a picture captured by a user to record the visible items displayed on the mobile device, monitor or other output devices.

Many times we face a situation where we feel the need to capture the screen to explain critical things rather than explaining them verbally. Right?

And that is only possible if we can capture screen(i.e referred as a screenshot). That's where we feel the need to take screenshots of the screen.

So, today I have come up with a post where I will show you how to screenshot on windows just by using the keys from the keyboard without any other third party software.

How To Take a Screenshot On Windows

Taking a screenshot on windows 7  is just a keystroke away, all you need to do is just press a few keys and you are done. I will be showing you how.

In the below guide ‘how to screenshot on windows 7', I will cover the three methods two for Windows PC and one for the laptop for taking the screenshots. Firstly, we will start by taking the window 7 screenshots in PC.

Method 1:

How to Take a Screenshot on Windows PC

In this method, you can take the screenshot, of the entire screen. Let's see how to do that:

  • First of all, open the window or the page you want to capture.
  • Press the “Prt Scr” from the keyboard. You may find this option between the function keys (F12) and Scroll lock key.

The print screen button may vary as per the systems like “PrtScn,” “PrntScrn,” ” Print Screen SysRq”, “Print Scr,” or something similar to that.

  • Once you click on the print screen button if you notice your cursor would blink for a second which means your screen has been captured and saved to the clipboard.
  • Now, you can paste that anywhere you want. It can be MS paint, MS word or anything. I am pasting it in MS paint. See the screenshot below.
  • To paste the image, press “Ctrl+V”, you can also paste it from the edit menu by selecting Paste.
  • Once you have pasted the image, press “Ctrl+S” or from the edit menu click on “save” to save the image. Choose the destination where you want to save your image and the file type you want to save it.

That's all you have successfully taken the screenshot on windows 7. (The dimensions of the image will be the same as your desktop resolution, but still it's versatile you can re-size and crop up the image accordingly).

“The recommended file type for the screenshot is PNG, but you can still save it as JPG, GiF, Tiff etc”.

This was the first method to take a screenshot in Windows 7, but if you are a Windows 8 or Windows 10 user, then also, you can take the screenshot by using the same method.

Now moving to the second method:

Method 2:

How to Take a Screenshot on Windows Of The ‘Active' Window

Taking a screenshot on windows is one of the easiest tasks possible, regardless of which version of the operating system you’re using. But a trivial change can make your task even easier. I will show you how.

If you follow the above guide you will definitely be able to capture the screen of the whole page or the current window.

But, the whole window might be of no use sometimes. Like capturing the windows that are opened and to avoid capturing taskbar icons follow the below steps.

  • To take the screenshot of the Active window press “Alt+Prtscr” from the keyboard.
  • Only “active” window will be captured and would be saved to the clipboard. You can paste that anytime, anywhere you want.
  • By using this method, you don't need to crop the image since the only visible window will be captured, and you'll end up saving some of your time.

For Windows 10 users: Pressing Windows logo key+PrtScn (Windows key with PrtScn) will save the screenshot directly in Screenshot folder. You can find the screenshot folder in your pictures directory.

Method 3:

How to take a screenshot on windows on a Laptop

If you are a laptop user then the PrtScn button can be hard to locate. plus pressing only PrtScn key doesn't work in the laptops. You will have to use a combination of two keys.

  • If you want to capture the image, you will have to press function key i.e. ‘fn'(located at the bottom left) along with PrtScn (Located at the top right corner)
  • Once you press both the keys, your screen will be captured and will be saved on the clipboard.
  • Paste it to the paint and save the image to the computer. That's it.

This was all about how to screenshot on windows. If you want to take screenshot windows 7, the above guide may help you. In all the windows, the method of capturing a screenshot is almost the same.

If you have read the guide on how to capture a screenshot windows 7, you must have clearly got all the ways to take the screenshot on windows 7, laptop and Windows XP.

With the wrap-up of this guide, I'm expecting there are no more doubt remained regarding how to, take screenshot windows if any, do ask in the comment section.

[Step By Step Info] How to Remove Virus from PC

Published

on

By

If you have been a PC user, especially a Windows user for any number of years, you'd know of PC viruses and how deadly they are!

Most of us, when we buy a new machine, we find that the manufacturer has very graciously given us a free trial of an Anti-Virus programme

However, as time passes, we get complacent, and many of us forget to renew our subscriptions. And unknown to us our PC starts accumulating viruses, Trojans and all other sorts of malware.

That looks scary, doesn't it? Well, have no fear, because we are here to show you how to remove a virus from any computer.

How to Clean a Computer?

The tricky thing about viruses is that there are so many of them.

Like human viruses, we can use broad-spectrum antibiotics and antiviral medication. That is akin to the nuclear option.

While formatting the entire drive and reinstalling the OS certainly does work, that's not always feasible.

So instead we try some different ways, try to investigate and find out how we can best answer the question, “How to remove virus from a PC?”

Common Types of Viruses

PC virus can be broadly classified into three types

  • Trojan
  • Malware
  • Generic Virus

While we could go into details about how they each work, that's not going to be helpful to us.

Instead, we take a look at what are the most common entry points of each of these viruses.

The three main ways for a computer to get infected are:

  1. From the internet.
  2. From a USB thumb drive
  3. From malicious and pirated programs.

We will now take each of these entry points, and show you how you can protect yourself as well as get rid of the virus that may have entered through each one.

#1. How to Remove Virus which Infects the PC via the Internet?

We start at the beginning. Most of us are familiar with the signs of a virus causing a rampage in our system.

However, even if you think you're safe, it doesn't hurt to run a quick online virus scanner.

1) F-Secure Online Scanner

Why this product and not any other scanner?

Well for a couple of reasons F-Secure stands out among all other scanners.

  • They have a very fast and efficient quick scan feature that will identify most of the threats in your computer
  • They also provide a detailed explanation along with the location of each of the virus files that have been found on your PC.

With that done we have a real knowledge of what we are up against.

Now we will clean up all the clutter in the browser:

  • Uninstall all the toolbars that you do not need as this unnecessarily slows down your browser.
  • Delete all the cookies and internet history. Even uninstalling and reinstalling a browser can be a great help.

2) Ad Block Plus

This will help you stay away from those pesky sites with the annoying popup ads that ask you to download stuff that claims to protect your computer but is actually viruses in disguise.

However, do consider removing the ad block on sites where you consume daily media from as that's what drives our revenue.

#2. How to Remove Virus which Infects the PC via the USB thumb drive?

“But, how to clean a computer with a USB virus?”, you ask.

For USB based viruses, the removal is two part. The first stage is to remove the virus from the thumb drive itself, and the next step is to scan the computer for any malware that the infected thumb drive may have injected into the PC.

1) USB Threat Defender

USB Threat Defender is not just another autorun.inf virus remover, it provides one of the best USB drive protection!

The protection offered by this software is at par if not better provided by most antivirus, paid or otherwise.

With this done we have cleared up all of our USB viruses and malware.

Next up is removing the junk from our hard drive.

#3. How to Remove Virus which Infects the PC through your HDD

This one is the most difficult of the three as the viruses that have outlived all our efforts yet are really good at hiding themselves in various programme files.

The question though remains how to clean a computer even if it has the worst viruses.

Our answer to that is a two-pronged attack!

1) Avira Free Antivirus

Avira, the best at fighting malware and viruses that you can get without paying a single dime.

Not only is it feature-rich and provides protection against zero-day vulnerabilities, but you can also restrict usage of the other users of the computer.

This is particularly helpful if you wish to stop little children from unknowingly downloading malicious programmes off the internet.

2) Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free

This is the second line of defence. If any malware does manage to sneak by Avira Anti-Malware Bytes is sure to snag it up and destroy it for good.

We would recommend that you keep the last two programmes installed on your system for future attacks from viruses.

With this, we come to the end of this article. If you have any questions or comments, do let us know down below! If you still decide that a fresh install is the best way to go, then do check out our guide on how you can get Windows 10 on your machine!
