How to block websites by editing hosts file?
If you want to block certain websites then you can easily attain that milestone by editing your host’s file.
For instance here, we have taken the example of www.myexamplesite.com.
Just add the following line in the host’s file replacing www.myexamplesite.com to your desired site name. 127.0.0.1 www.myexamplesite.com
you can block as many sites as you want just by adding them in the host’s file in the mentioned manner.
How does it work?
(127.0.0.1) This IP address is the universal IP address that is assigned to the localhost of the user ’s computer.
When the user will navigate to www.myexamplesite.com through a web browser, the computer will try to connect to itself because 127.0.0.1 is the IP address of the machine’s localhost and the machine probably would not find a web server running on itself ultimately resulting in failure and this way the blocked website will not open in the system.
Disclaimer: You might end up losing the original hosts file. So, better be careful.

The second requirement is that your system include a TPM (Trusted Platform Module).
If you try to encrypt your boot volume without satisfying the above to requirement then it will give an error as shown in the figure below.

- Press [win + r] and type “gpedit.msc” in it and press enter to launch the Local Group Policy Editor
- Now, browse to – “Computer Configuration > Administrator Templates > Windows Components > BitLocker Frive Encryption > Operating System Drives
- In the right panel. double click the setting “Require additional authentication at startup” and select “Enabled”
- In that please check the below options that “Allow BitLocker without a compatible TPM…” is checked.
