How to Check if Your Android Cellphone Is Rooted or Not?

How to Check if Your Android Cellphone Is Rooted or Not

Are you troubled by the thought if your android cellphone is rooted or not? Looking for answers to questions like How to Check if Your Android Cellphone Is Rooted or Not? Well, that's exactly what I've got here.

It's 2016, there's almost no one who doesn't know what rooted and non-rooted devices are. But just in case you are among the ignorant population of the world, let me tell you it isn't a crime not to know the difference.

In fact, there are quite a number of differences, ups, and downsides of both the versions of android so before getting into details like How to Tell if Android Phone/Tablet is Rooted, let's have a basic insight into the two versions.

What are Rooted Android Devices:-

Well rooted android devices are just your everyday normal android mobiles, tablets, etc which have been modified by the owners in order to grant them “administrator” level privileges.

Well if that phrase is confusing you, let me tell you that when you buy a cell phone, you get “owner” level privileges, you can do anything you think there is to the device, but that's not the truth.

Non-rooted devices allow you only the surface level features, features which you think exist, while the secret here is that there are some features even underneath the surface level which you didn't even know existed.

So basically, rooting an android device will grant you the highest level of the privilege there is to an android device, which is also called “factory” level access.

So if you're buying the device, why keep features from you? That's a legit question. Well, there's a logical answer to that as well.

Rooting the Android device grants you access to features which if used without proper knowledge might corrupt the device. Or another reason being, rooted devices are more vulnerable to third-party attacks, it becomes easier to hack into your devices from the outside.

So overall, the “non-allowance” of the features is a good thing, it keeps your device safe and you out of the harm's way, and that's the reason that if you root your android device, then it also voids the warranty you had on the device so if something goes wrong, you've got a problem.

Should You Root your Android Device:-

So okay now that we know what a rooted android device is, the normal question that arises is, should we?

In my opinion, we are all common people, we don't have high-profile state secrets or nuclear launch codes, and there aren't a lot of people who would take all the time and effort it requires to get into even a rooted android device of people like us.

And on the bright side, the features that rooting unlocks over-weighs the slight risk of security (it's just my personal opinion), so yeah I have a rooted android device.

So the decision of rooting your android device or not is totally your own choice and assessment of the threat-profit value.

How to Check if Your Android Cellphone Is Rooted or Not:-

So okay finally down to the section you've been waiting for. Wanna learn How can I check and see if my phone is rooted?

Now there might be times when you've rooted your device but you're not sure if the process was successful, of course, because it's not as simple as installing an app from play store, or maybe you un-rooted your device and now you need confirmation that your device is back to the normal access level (can help you get back warranty!)

In any case, “verification” is important, right? So how do you check if your android is rooted or not?

Well, of course, this being the not so “legal” thing, there isn't an official option telling you if your android device is rooted or not, but we can still determine the status of your android device.

So what's the solution for you? Luckily enough there are quite a number of Android root checker applications, and they're free.

All you've got to do is, install one of them and they'll just lay out the facts clean and simple.

How to Check if Your Android Cellphone Is Rooted or Not

So head over to Playstore and download this Root checker app. (Any other root checker app would work too!)

And as you can see there's this “verify” tab which lets you know if your android device is rooted or not.

How can I check and see if my phone is rooted?

It's as simple as that.

Method to Check for Root Access:-

The other method (a bit more complicated) is to install any terminal from the play store. Just type “terminal” and you'll get tons of them.

How to Tell if Android Phone/Tablet is Rooted

Once you have the application open it and just type “su” without quotes and wait for the response.

If there's any positive response, it means your cell phone is rooted, and if the terminal fails to recognize that command, it means that you aren't a superuser = your cell phone isn't rooted.

Final Words:-

So that was all I had on How to Check if Your Android Cellphone Is Rooted or Not folks. I'm guessing this piece helped? If it did I'd love to hear the feedback from you guys in the comments.

Also if you know other ways to verify if your cell phone has been rooted or not, still do let me know in the comments.

And finally, I really wouldn't mind if you guys hit the share button around and let your social media know of this piece here, could help us get some motivation.

How to Turn Off Cellular Data for Specific Apps on Android?

Published

By

Have you ever wished for a method to regulate background data usage? Some Android apps use your cellular data without even knowing. And, it causes your data pack to expire within no time.

So, it is important for anyone to disable background data usage on Android. Do you think about it as an impossible task? No, you can do it like a cakewalk. In this tutorial, I will walk you through the entire steps needed for the process.

Are you ready to get into the core of this post? Here you go!

How to Turn Off Cellular Data for Specific Apps on Android?

As I said earlier, it isn’t a tough row to hoe. First, I will give you the method to restrict background data altogether. Then, you can read how to restrict data for specific apps.

How to Turn off Entire Background Cellular Data on Android?

I have given below the steps needed for turning off the background data usage for every app on your Android device.

Step 1: Pick up your Android gadget and access Settings. You can do it either after tapping the app drawer or from the notification panel. It’s completely up to you whether to go with which one.

Step 2: Once you open the Settings, you will get a bunch of options. You can see Data usage under Wireless & Networks. In order to open the background data usage for all the applications, you should open it.

Step 3: Opening the Data usage option will give you some deep insights into applications that use your data the most. You can see a button on the top-right corner of the screen (three-dots button). Just tap on it.

Step 4: A menu with four options is what you see at this step. As you clearly guessed, one should go with the first one that says Restrict app background data.

Step 5: After tapping on the same, you will be asked whether you really want to deactivate the app background data or not. If you are firm with this decision, you must choose Ok.

That’s it! None of your applications use your data pack in the background from now on. I don’t recommend you do this, especially if you have instant messaging apps on your device.

Right from the moment you activate this option, you will see a notification (Background data restricted; Touch to remove the restriction). Just tap on it to revoke your device to the initial state.

Alternatively, you can follow all the five steps given above to turn it back on.

How to Turn Off Cellular Data for Specific Apps on Android? {Built-in Method}

As I said earlier, turning off the background data completely isn’t an ideal choice. Fortunately, Android gives us a method to do it without the help of any third-party applications. Let’s find out how you can do it.

Step 1: Take your mobile in your hand and open Settings. I hope you know how to open the Settings panel.

Step 2: Under Wireless & Networks, you can see an option named Data usage. Simply, tap on it to proceed to the next step.

Step 3: Most probably, you will get an overview of the data used here. In case you inserted two SIMs into the device, you can switch between different tabs to check the data usage of apps on both the cards.

Step 4: The list of apps gives us an idea of the data usage.

How-to-Turn-Off-Cellular-Data-for-Specific-Apps-on-Android

We can easily find out which app uses the most of your data. Tapping on the app will give a deep insight into the amount of both background and foreground data.

Step 5: In order to turn off the data usage for a particular app, you have to choose one from the list.

Once you do it, you will get the amount of data, as I said earlier. On the bottom of the screen, you can see a switcher right next to Restrict app background data.

Most probably, you will see it in the deactivated state. Simply, give it a gentle tap to turn it on. Hurray!

You have just turned off background data usage for that particular application.

How to Turn Off Cellular Data for Specific Apps on Android? {Third-Party Method}

In this section, you are going to know how to disable data usage for specific apps using a third-party application called Netguard. Though the developers themselves call the app as a firewall, the working is similar to that of a VPN application.

First, you have to install the app using the link I have given above. Once you finish installing the app, you must open it to proceed further.

You will have to press Ok a couple of times for the first time.

How-to-Turn-Off-Cellular-Data-for-Specific-Apps-on-Android

When you complete all the primary processes, you will see all the apps installed on your device in alphabetical order. Right next to the name of the app, you will see cellular data and wifi icons. You can enable or disable any of them to limit the usage.

For added control, you should tap on any of the apps. Then, you can control data when the screen is on and when you are on roaming.

How-to-Turn-Off-Cellular-Data-for-Specific-Apps-on-Android

Accessing the Settings will give you some new set of options.

how-to-turn-off-cellular-data-for-specific-apps-on-android

You can turn off mobile data for all the applications. Similarly, you can turn off wifi as well.

Wrapping Up

I hope you learned the methods to turn off mobile data for specific apps on Android. Even though I shared only one third-party app that serves this purpose, you can find similar kinds of more apps on Play Store.

In case you face any issues while trying to turn off mobile data, don’t forget to come here and jot down your issue into the comment section down below. I will be more than glad to help you out.

Moreover, I expect you to share this article with your social media friends and followers. Cheers.

Even the imagination of this moment gives us the goosebumps, think of the moment when you will really encounter this situation!

We are humans and we all make mistakes at one and the other point and these mistakes make us believe in learning! Learning How to recover deleted photos from android phones is one such article which turns out as a lifesaver when any such situation occurs! let's get started with the guide!

How to Restore Deleted Photos From Android Phones:

Once your photos are deleted from Android phones, it's not 100% guaranteed that they will be recovered completely. But there are good chances that they will be recovered. And when it comes to our photos, we never like taking risks. So why to make a delay?? Let's get started and learn the different ways to recover deleted pictures!

As sooner analyzing is finish, you will get a superUser request on your phone. Click Allow and grant this utility permission to begin scanning for the lost data including photos, videos and everything you selected in step 3.

Note: If you don't see this pop-up on your phone, probably recovery has been failed and you will need to click the retry button. So just don't blindly wait for this superuser request on your phone and have a look on your computer screen to check if the process has been failed!

Step 5. After granting permission on your phone, click the Start button on your computer screen to begin scanning. This process may take a few minutes so have patience and wait for that duration.

Once the scanning is complete, you will be provided with a screen with all the lost photos along with a checkmark on them. The screen will look like the below screen.

Ways to Recover Deleted Pictures

Step 7. Now select the photos you want to recover and click on the Recover button at the bottom of the screen to save the photos on your computer.

That's how to recover deleted photos when you accidentally delete them from your android phone!

But here are a few points you need to take care of.

  • Don't store other photos on your phone unless previous photos are recovered. Doing that will cause the lost photos to be rewritten and they will not be able to be recovered ever again.
  • The data recovery from the android phone is not a few minutes process. It might be pretty long and can take up to 15-20 minutes and even more sometimes. So make sure your phone has at least 25% battery remaining before you begin the process.

But prevention is always better than cure! It's always a good idea to keep a backup of your photos and other important docs on your android before they are gone for good. There are countless guides on the web that will tell you how to backup your phone's photos and images.

The guide above or any other tutorial on restore deleted photos doesn't guaranty 100% results! So prefer keeping a copy of your images either on the cloud, external memory card or on the computer and stay safe.

Now It's time for me to wrap us the article. For any doubts or queries, fill the below form and write to us. We will reach out to you ASAP.

How to Unlock a Locked Phone?

How to Unlock a Locked Phone

Do you want to know how to unlock a phone?

I am not talking about the password, pattern or fingerprint lock on your device. But the lock comes with the device itself called carrier lock.

If you bought a phone exclusively from a telecom operator for a low price, you would know what I am talking about.

In this article, I want to give you complete information on how to unlock a locked phone.

I hope you are ready to get deep into the article now. So, here you go!

How to Unlock a Locked Phone?

Comparing with the pattern or PIN lock, unlocking a carrier lock will need more effort and time for you. And the procedures are different for different carriers as well.

What does an Unlocked Phone Means?

Maybe you are new to this whole locked phone stuff. So let me explain it to you.

Some operators sell expensive phones like iPhones for a cheap price in return for a contract that lasts for a particular period say two years. That means you need to use their telecom service for the next two years after you buy the device from them.

Once you set out to remove their SIM card and try to insert another from the separate network operator, it won’t work until the set contract period gets finished. The fact is that a particular unit contains a secret software code, which is responsible for the lock.

The manufacturer itself does the code integration into the unit upon the request of the network carrier. You can’t do much about it at once.

So, what is an unlocked phone?

A phone with no carrier constraint is called an unlocked phone no matter what it was locked in the past.

Why does a Carrier Lock a Device?

I have already told you the reason. They provide you with an expensive unit for a cheaper price. In return, all they want is you as a customer for a given period. They make up the discount in price for the device from the profit in service.

Is My Phone Unlocked?

You may have a question in your mind now ‘is my phone unlocked?’.

No geeky brain is needed to figure it out. Just pull out the SIM card on your phone and, insert another. If you get signals for the second SIM, you know it is unlocked. In case you don’t, your phone is carrier-locked.

How to Unlock a Phone?

As I said earlier, you need to incorporate different methods to unlock phones from different carriers. You can find how it can be done for a few operators here.

#1. Verizon

According to the company, their 4G LTE devices aren’t locked. So, you don’t need assistance in using other SIM cards on such phones.

what does an unlocked phone mean

They don’t have an online unlock request receiving system. But you can place a request via 1-800-711-8300.

Though most of the 3G devices of Verizon aren’t locked, you will have to enter either 000000 or 123456. Until you do the same, third-party operator compatibility will remain a mirage.

For the special world devices, technical support is needed for the process of unlocking. You can seek help from (800) 922-0204 also.

#2. AT&T

Unlike the previous operator, AT&T offers an online request receiving system.

how to unlock a locked phone

But you must be sure about the following things before you place a request for unlocking the device.

  • The device should be from At&T
  • You must be their subscriber
  • The device should have been active for the last two months
  • You don’t have an unpaid balance or due
  • The device shouldn’t be reported stolen or lost
  • Make sure you made less than five requests last year.

Once you come to the terms, you can fill this form out to place a request. Generally, it would take up to five business days to complete the process.

Even though they don’t provide unlock-over-the-phone service, you can seek their assistance via 1-800-331-0500. If you have a prepaid connection, the period of activity is the whole year.

#3. Sprint

When it comes to unlocking a phone from Sprint, you must follow all the bullet-point guidelines beneath the previous subhead, but with a couple of slight differences. The period of activity is 50 days and the maximum requests per year are two on contrary to two months and five requests of AT&T.

Sprint phones manufactured before 2015 can’t be unlocked according to the company. But those after that year aren’t impossible to unlock. You need to call talk with their customer care executive either via phone ((888) 211-4727) or online chat.

what is an unlocked phone

If you are a person who is about to go abroad and wants to get the phone unlocked, you are eligible to request a short-term unlocking provided you meet the guidelines. First, you need to sign in to your account, then follow My account>> Manage this device>> Unlock device to use int’l SIM.

That’s it.

#4. T-Mobile

T-Mobile too wants you to be a good customer who follows a bunch of guidelines. Everything is similar to that of Sprint. But here T-Mobile has an additional instruction that clients who are on a service contract should have made at least 18 monthly payments.

The prepaid phone should be active at least for a year to request for unlocking. And, you should have done $25 (for feature phones) or $100 (for smartphones) refill within that period to be eligible.

how to unlock a phone

Unlike the other three carriers I have shared, T-Mobile has a dedicated unlocking app, which clears the air. In case you prefer customer support, call 611 from your T-Mobile connection.

Wrapping Up

I hope you now know how to unlock a locked phone.

Obviously, there are third-party offline and online services for the same unlocking purposes. If you know of anything legitimate, you are invited to mention the same in the comment section down below.

In case you get confused, don’t forget to let me know about the issue in the comment section down below.

In the meantime, feel free to share this post on social media.

How to Download Android Emulator for PC

Have you ever wished for a way to use Android apps on your computer?

There are plenty of Android apps available. Even for the same purpose, you can find tens and thousands of the apps on Play Store.

Do you want to run these apps on your PC?

Well, you need an Android emulator. In this tutorial, you are going to read how to use an Android emulator for the computer.

How to Download and Use Android Emulator for PC?

I know you are impatient to get the steps. Nonetheless, I want to give you an overview of an Android emulator and then, you will get the list of top items. Finally, I will tell you how to run the same on your computer.

So without further ado, let’s get started.

What is an Android Emulator?

Simply put, an Android emulator is the setup to run applications without a physical device.

Of course, emulators are software that creates a device-like ambiance on your computer for the effective running of Android applications.

Some emulators only allow you to run apps whereas some others fetch you the complete Android experience.

There are plenty of Android emulators available on the web. You can download them for free and, run the apps just like you do on smartphones.

5 Best Android Emulators for PC

In this section, you get a list of top five Android emulators for the computer. Are you ready to get into it? Here you go!

#1. Bluestacks

Android Emulator for PC

As I said earlier, there are two types of emulators. Bluestacks fall into the first category that gives only the feature of running applications.

Most of the people use emulators to run applications only. So, I consider Bluestacks as the best Android emulator for PC.

In the next section, I will describe in detail, how to install and use Bluestacks for PC.

You won’t have to do much. Download the installer, install and, open the software. Finally, you have to sign in to your Google account to start downloading apps from the Play Store.

Bluestacks Cloud Connect app helps you synchronize your applications on the phone with your computer.

#2. Leapdroid

Android Emulator for PC

Leapdrodid is comparatively a new Android emulator. Unlike Bluestacks, it creates a full Android atmosphere.

I hope you are familiar with virtual machines. Leapdroid works on the same principle of virtual machines to give you the Android experience.

Once you install it, Leapdroid boots up pretty quickly. And, you will not face any issues running almost 98% of the applications. The benchmark scores of Leapdroid came out good.

You get root access by default on this Android emulator. The active development team is working on it to make it the best. You can read a thread on XDA forums about this emulator here.

#3. Andy

Android Emulator for PC

If you are a person who follows news about Android, you might have heard about this emulator.

Andy had come out with some bugs around. But it seems that they have sorted it all. Overall, Andy gives you a sleek Android experience with support to almost all the applications.

I know Bluestacks is the mighty one in this segment. Still, Andy has got the capability to be a replacement for the same. You can try out it without any hesitation as it does the work well.

#4. Official Android Emulator

Android Emulator for PC

I am afraid that you may not be going to like it.

Official Android Emulator aims developers. Yeah, you need a geek to run it smoothly on your computer.

You get it with Google’s Android software development kit. Using the official one, you can run the latest version of Android.

You have to download Java first. Then, go for SDK tools. Then, launch SDK manager and install files required to run the latest version of Android. You need to go through a bunch of geeky steps as well.

#5. Genymotion

Android Emulator for PC

Genymotion is the next emulator on this list.

Just like the previous one, Genymotion also gives the first priority to the developers. You get the option to choose a particular device to test your apps on it. It is easy to switch between devices.

In case you want an emulator for casual browsing and checking emails, I don’t recommend this one. The features of this emulator for developers are paid though the software itself is free.

How to Download Android Emulator for PC?

In this section, you are going to read the exact steps needed to download and run the Blustacks Android emulator on your computer.

Step 1: First, you have to download the Bluestacks app player on your computer. Visit this website and, download the executable file.

Step 2: Once the download finishes, don’t hesitate to proceed to the installation.
